THE LEAGUE ANNOUNCES ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY

The Essex Sunday Corinthian Football League made an announcement at the March council meeting that we will be adopting a 'zero tolerance' policy from the start of the 2008/09 season with regards to offensive and insulting language. This means absolutely NO SWEARING OR INSULTING LANGUAGE will be tolerated at all during a match.

The full details of the policy and guidelines will be discussed with all clubs before the new season, so we all know where we stand. But bear in mind that the use of such language is an automatic dismissal from the field of play. The same would apply to non-playing members and supporters on the line, who would also be reported likewise.

This is simply applying the laws of the game to the letter as written in the laws of association football. Also most Sunday matches are played on public parks and we feel the use of such language not only causes offence to the general public but is unnecessary and the source of conflicts which sometimes escalate.

Early indications form referees and clubs is that they fully support the initiative. We will publish more details before the start of the new season.
