WEEK 31 REVIEW: Round-up of all the Corinthian League action from the weekend

SENIOR DIVISION

Manford Way remain top of the Senior Division as we enter the final few weeks of the season, completing a league double over Baiteze Squad to make it nine wins for the season. Manford scored the game's only goal in a closely fought battle, their lead at the top sitting at five points.

At the other of the table, Hatch Lane had a profitable morning with double header delight, taking home six points against El Valiente. The first fixture saw Hatch bounce back from last week's disappointment, winning 5-0 before a closer win in game two, coming out of that one with a 2-1 win under their belts, shifting them up two places in the table to eighth.

DIVISION ONE

Leaders Theydon Green saw them long unbeaten run in the league finally come to an end as thety slipped to a 2-1 defeat at home to Critics, Deyonte Anthony and Dean Florence goals doing the business for the visitors. That keeps Critics in the title race though one more win from their remaining four will win it for Green.

It was a good morning for St Augustines who game themselves the best chance of avoiding the drop with a vital win against Barking Riverside, in turn ending Barking's hopes of the league title in the process. Two Aaron Francis goals and one from Tristan Hickman were the difference as the Saints were 3-2 winners, needing four points to be safe.

There were mixed results in the day's double header action in the division where Oceana took all three points in the first game against Benchviews as Tom Parsons and Matthew Koczan scored to win it 2-0. But Benchviews bounced back to win the second game 2-1, despite a Jesse Jones effort for the hosts.

DIVISION TWO CUP

The line-up for the Division Two Cup Final is now confirmed as Debden Sports Reserves ensured themselves of a tilt at the silverware, overcoming Leytonstone Athletic in a hard fought semi-final to win 2-1. Saul Jackson and Callum Thomas goals done the business for Sports, Talvin Sandhu the man on target with the Leytonstone consolation.

DIVISION TWO

The title race in Division Two is reaching a real climax with AC Milano now three points clear with three games to go following a double header success against Barking. An 8-0 win in game one was secured through goals from Mohamed Kidia (2), Tayyab Akhtar (2), Omar Abdul-Aziz, Warren Kayembe, Melanijus Butkus and Zakariyas Hailu. Game two followed a similar pattern with AC winning 7-0, Kidia scoring five, with Uzair Patel and Warren Kayembe striking the others.

There was another huge game at Robert Clack where second faced third in a gigantic clash, Abridge Village the visitors to Barking & Dagenham Wanderers. But it was Abridge who walked away with the points to keep matters in their own hands, winning 3-1, with games against the leaders still to come.

There were good wins for sides still in relegation difficulties as Higham Hill earned a terrific win away at Newbury Forest to put them three points clear of danger for now. Hill were 4-2 winners in Hainault, despite host goals from Brady Jones and Will Asenso, keeping hopes of survival alive.

It was a similar story for Inside Success who also picked up a vital three points in their bid to stay in the division, taking maximum points from their home clash against Cloud 9 to record a fourth league success of the season. Ryan Costello struck with the Cloud goal but efforts proved in vain as the hosts kept themselves moving upwards.

DIVISION THREE CUP

It was semi-final day for two clubs in the Division Three Cup and it will be Valence United back on the big stage once again after they came out on the right side of a 3-0 home win against Ainslie to go through. A goal apiece from Michael O'Brien, Rowan Newland and Tommy Abrams proved sufficient in the end as they now await opponents for May's showdown.

In the day's quarter-final action, newly crowned county champions, Colebrook Royals were in action with a last eight tie against Upshire Forest, the winners progressing into the semis. But it was an Upshire day this time around as they ran out 2-0 winners, Jimmy Brooker netting both goals for this side to send them through to the semi-finals.

DIVISION THREE

Back in the league action, Korona Redbridge gave themselves a great chance of avoiding the drop this season with a vital win away at co-tenants FC Mexico B. Korona were 4-0 winners on the day as Mihail Bejenaru, Aleksander Poteraj, Mateusz Babula and Radu Gliga all found the back of the net ub a third win of the campaign.

DIVISION FOUR CUP

We now know the line-up for this season's Division Four Cup Final next month and it will see City Site going for their first honours as a club, the Collier Row-based side having edged to a narrow victory against Byron Red Star in a 3-2 scoreline. Alex Paraskeva extended his scoring record with two goals and Harry Watkins struck with the other.

Their opponents in the final will be Belfry Reserves who done what they needed to do to earn their place in the showpiece final, coming away 4-0 winners against Horse & Well to head on through to the final. The key goals came from Jordan Riches, Nathan Casey, Ryan O'Connell and Jamie Redington, keeping alive hopes of a treble.

DIVISION FOUR

in the league, Ace Athletics made full use of their key game in hand to move out of the relegation places on goal difference, producing a 4-1 winning performance against Brymans Park. Alex Mason and Jack McAllister both struck with braces for their side, Grant Eagle scoring the Park goal in reply.

DIVISION FIVE CUP

The first cup final of the season on Sunday saw a terrific crowd in to see league leaders Colebrook Royals Reserves take on Lonsdale at Parkside in rainy conditions. Both sides were cautious in their approach with few chances created at either end. However Royals missed a couple of glorious chances late on as the game ended goalless and went to a shootout. Lonsdale got ahead early in the shootout and never relented, winning 4-2 to lift the trophy at the end.

DIVISION FIVE

Mansfield Rangers maintained their hopes of a third place finish in the division, holding off the efforts of fifth placed Manford Way Reserves to take a point in a 1-1 draw to stay a couple of points clear of those below. James Scott scored their goal with Daniel Moulden's effort levelling it for Manford.

Also in the race for a top three finish are Ultimate Vision Reserves who kept themselves involved with that battle with a seventh league win of the season, defeating Titans United in the Old Dagenham derby game. Vision now sit two points behind Mansfield, though with only a single game to go.

DIVISION SIX

It was a good morning for Ping City Phoenixes who repeated the dose from their semi-final against Epping Royals to come away 4-2 winners from Barkingside on Sunday. Ezra Waterman struck two, Matthew Fyfe and Jack Flood scoring the others while Daniel Booker and Jared Sinatra responded for Royals to further dent their title ambitions.

The other cup finalists this season, Ridgeway Rovers, kept their momentum moving forward with a solid 4-0 win away at Havering Palace on Sunday to take all three points in Newbury Park. Harley Hillman (2), Reece Boultwood and Regan Marshall were the men on the scoresheet to take the win.

There was a glut of goals in the day's final game which saw Epping Forest Falcons and Zone 4 Athletic combine for an incredible eleven goal thriller, Falcons eventually winning this one 7-4 despite goals from Sam Galer, Andrew Mbewe, Luke Paites and Ricky Wenhold.
