The line-up for this season’s Trophyland Cup competition has now been finalised with United Amateurs putting themselves into the final with a terrific 5-2 away win against Warren Senior on Sunday. Bradley Bennett’s four goals set them on their way with Jack Chawner scoring the other to set up a final against Belfry. Anthony Cooke struck with both of the Warren goals in reply.

SENIOR DIVISION

In the Senior Division, Flyhouse Athletic emphasised their credentials for the title this season, moving up into second place following a double header victory against Brook Athletic. The first game saw them win 2-0 with the second seeing a 5-1 win also to take their wins tally for the season up to ten for the season, two points behind the leaders.

DIVISION ONE

In Division One, it’s congratulations to Theydon Green who secured the points they needed to take the title as they cruised to am emphatic 7-0 win at home to FC Galaxy at Roding Valley. There were a trio of braces from Joe Johnson, Bill Johnson and George Johnson, Frankie Licheri netting the other to complete the win and lift the title.

The other games to take place in the division were a double header between Oceana and St Augustines, the former taking all six points available, netting late in game one through Jesse Jones to win 1-0. Then in game two, they struck both of the goals with Niall Fitzpatrick and Tomiwa Ibrahim on target to make it 2-0, taking their wins tally to six.

DIVISION TWO

Both of the games in Division Two ended in draws with an important result being the one between first and second as Abridge Village shared the spoils with AC Milano. Jorge Sambu scored for the visitors but Abridge were able to take a draw and take the title race down to the final couple of weeks of the season.

There were six goals in the dress rehearsal for the coming weekend’s cup final which saw Debden Sports Reserves take a point from third placed Barking & Dagenham Wanderers with the sides finishing level at 3-3. Danny Wheeler scored a hat-trick for the hosts with Wanderers also netting three as we hope for similar excitement this weekend.

DIVISION THREE

The Division Three action saw third placed Colebrook Royals Vets close the gap on the leaders to three points with a game in hand, the Chigwell based side travelling home with all three points from their trip to Korona Redbridge as they completed a 3-0 win. Neil Crosby scored two and Leo Winer once.

Sixth placed Ainslie are also just five points off the pace going into the remaining four games of the season, the Wadham Lodge side taking all three points in a 4-0 home victory against Alpha to complete an eighth league win. Ryan Radley struck twice, Nial Mullins and Eric Kelly once each to set up an exciting end to the season.

Fourth placed Upshire Forest saw their title hopes hit as they were held to a 2-2 draw against Singh Sabha Barking, the latter ending their campaign with a point to sit second. Freddie Bose and Aeli Agha both got on the scoresheet for Upshire leaving them with two games to go to advance their league position.

DIVISION FOUR

In Division Four, Belfry Reserves rounded off their season with a double header at home to Prospect Protégé. The first game saw Belfry run out 2-0 winners as Jamie Redington and Nathan Casey both got on the scoresheet to complete the win. Then in game two, Belfry were winners once again, ending their season undefeated as Dylon Bradford, Lee Newton and Jamie Redington goals made it 3-0.

There was a big game in Barkingside for Ace Athletics who were in action against Eastern Avenue knowing that a win would likely be needed to avoid the drop this season. And a win was what they were able to achieve, beating Avenue in a 2-0 scoreline through goals from Billy Baldry and Jay Simmons to secure their league status.

DIVISION FIVE

In Division Five, the cup winners, Lonsdale, were in action for their penultimate league game of the season with a trip to Mansfield Rangers, the sides starting nine points apart at the start of the game. And that was extended to twelve by full-time as Billy Happe and Kemston Allen both scored for Rangers to win it 2-1, Anthony Scott scoring the visitors’ goal in reply.

DIVISION SIX

There was a nine-goal thriller in the battle between tenth and eleventh Ping City Phoenixes and Warren United, the host club eventually edging the game in a 5-4 scoreline. William Salter, Tom Collier, Ezra Waterman and Charlie Thompson all scored for Ping but those efforts proved in vain as Warren walked away with the points.

The other game came from Walthamstow where Ridgeway Rovers accrued an eighth win of the season in the league, taking all three points against third placed Epping Royals with Tommy Sheridan and Regan Marshall striking with the key goals. Daniel Booker scored the Royals’ consolation goal as they completed their season with a third placed finish.
