WEEK 2 REVIEW: Round-up of all the Corinthian League action from the weekend

DIVISION ONE

There were a couple of high scoring games in Division One, starting at The Grange where AC Milano held off a Colebrook Royals fightback to win 3-2 with Calvin Bell and Arron Stevenson both netting.

At Parsloes Park, it was victory for Baiteze Squad who beat CSM London 12-3 with Shyon Dennis scoring four, Jordan Mumbiny three, Kevar March-McKenzie two and one each from Mohamed Konte, Yassin Fares, Tarome Hemmings and Philip Browne. Rabbi Hossain, Jahim Stapleton-Payne and Tayeb Benzekri struck in reply.

DIVISION TWO

Goals were also a theme in Division Two, including a seven goal thriller in Noak Hill as Colebrook Royals Reserves secured a 4-3 win over Turkmenkoy. Luke Harris, James Deaney, Lenny Hunt and George Marlborough goals won it for Royals with Riliwan Yusuf, Deren Kale and Jo Magege striking for the hosts.

It was also a win for another promoted side as Manford Way secured themselves a 4-1 victory over Barking & Dagenham Wanderers, overcoming Jack Swaby’s goal with two Fred Brislen-Hall efforts and one each from William Sandell and Mason Strevens.

East End United were another side to take home three points as they completed a 3-2 win at Gants Hill courtesy of two James Thomson goals and one from Loui Grech. Arminas Gricius and Umaru Kabia netted the Hill goals in consolation.

In Hainault, hosts Prospect Protégé earned themselves three points from their home fixture against May & Baker EC with Tommy Burke scoring twice for his side to complete a 2-1 win.

An exhilarating draw completes the action from the division as Byron Red Star shared the spoils in a 3-3 draw with East London Ballers Reserves, with Ojukwu Chibueze, Anthony Obinkwo and Iyaad Bhatti efforts seeing the visitors leave with a point.

DIVISION THREE

There was a big win for Ping City Phoenixes in Division Three as they beat Euro Stars in a 16-1 scoreline. Jack Flood scored five, Jay Digance a hat-trick, Ryan Radley, William Hunt and Phil Herman two each, completed by Joe Powell and Varun Syal strikes.

After an opening day reverse, it was three points on the road for East Park Rovers this week as Reece Hewitt, Rudhar Sobhie, Charlie Bliss, Desmond Davies and Charlie Gardner goals led them to a 5-1 away success over Condor Under 23s.

The final game ended locked in a high-scoring 4-4 draw as Cameron Shakes’s hat-trick and a Josh Dosad goal for Rainham Working Mens Club were equalled by Graham Bryan’s hat-trick and a Luke Newbury-Neale effort for Newbury Drive.

DIVISION FOUR

The Dagenham derby saw a victory for Gatcliffe on Sunday morning as they were in good form in front of goal following a big 15-0 away win over London Legacy at Parsloes Park to continue a decent start.

Also putting in a strong showing were Chingford Athletic who opened their campaign with a 6-1 win over Cannons Wood, helped by Fraser McCarthy and Andre Graham doubles, along with George Whalley and Darryl Wilson goals. Mahmoud Yagob netted in reply for Wood.

There were also three points on the road for East London Spartans who returned from Dagenham United with the honours after a 4-0 victory, with both Michael Taylor and Jayden Hocking-Rising scoring twice.

It was the same margin of victory for JK Silvertown Reserves who won 5-1 in their opening outing of the new season. Jaxon Brown scored four and Alan Sanders one while George Burton got on the Leytonstone Athletic scoresheet.

Two old rivals locked horns in Dagenham as Valence United and Warren United ended all square at 2-2 to share the spoils, Aaron Legget and Ashley Collins goals equalled by Teddy Good and Harry Turner efforts.

DIVISION FIVE

Eastside Athletic earned a first win of the season with a 2-1 victory at home to Barking Colts, overcoming Akeem Matthews’ effort with goals from Owen Oakford and Danny Redman to hand their side the points.

It was also a first outing for promoted Ace Athletics and they continued their winning form with a 4-2 victory over Rainham Working Mens Club Reserves. Joshua Craske scored two, Riley Boyce and Thomas Mason with the others while Sidney Dixon and Daniel Sneddon grabbed the Workies consolation goals.

There were plenty of goals too in the game from Douglas Eyre where Young Royals started their campaign with a big win on the road, defeating Lonsdale in a 9-2 scoreline to take three points.

It was another winning Sunday for Valence United Reserves who had Keanan Mitchell to thank for scoring both goals in a 2-0 home win against United Amateurs to make it two wins from two.

DIVISION SIX

A nine-goal thriller from Walthamstow saw Ridgeway Rovers Under 21s net a first win, 5-4 victors against Highams Park Rangers with Lorenzo Cuchillo and Max Chamberlain each scoring two and Jonathan Ochieng one. Jay Grant scored twice, Richard Hurry and Carl White the others for Rangers in reply.

It was victory on the road for Romford Bullsharks who racked up a 4-1 success against Forest Albion, overcoming a Freddy Freeman goal for the hosts with Zachary Bussell, Tommy Foster, Teddy Plume and George Creedon goals of their own.

Emerson & Upminster started their new season in a positive fashion with Tom Tracey and Harry Pitt scoring the goals to lead them to a 2-1 win over Zone 4 Athletic, for whom Mohammed Omar struck with their reply.

That same scoreline was reflected in the game from Hainault where Rush Green Rangers were the visitors and left with three points against Hale End Athletic Deaf after a 2-1 success with Alfie Sasse and Aaron Anthony scoring the goals.
