WEEK 3 REVIEW: Round-up of all the Corinthian League action from the weekend

DIVISION ONE

There was a nine-goal thriller in the top flight where Colebrook Royals overcame a four goal effort from FC Galaxy’s Mihai Mareniuc to win 5-4 through Makai Fray’s hat-trick plus goals from Harley Lewis and Jordan Rock.

DIVISION TWO

There were some tight games in Division Two, beginning in Dagenham where May & Baker EC earned themselves a 2-1 win over Gants Hill with Robbie Farrell and Jake Fenton scoring the goals for the hosts.

That same scoreline was reflected at The Foundry where East London Ballers Reserves took home all three points following a 2-1 win against Manford Way, overcoming William Sandell’s strike with goals from Oluwatayo Felstead and Iyaad Bhatti.

The biggest winners from the division were Turkmenkoy who bagged a 5-2 away win from their trip to East End United. James Thomson and Mikolaj Ratajczak scored for United but Jo Magege and Alvaro Brahilika braces, plus Deren Kale’s goal won it for the visitors.

Two sides who couldn’t be separated were Barking & Dagenham Wanderers and Byron Red Star as they met at Robert Clack on Sunday. Joshua Renwick-Smith scored for Wanderers but that effort was levelled by the visitors in an eventual 1-1 draw.

DIVISION THREE

Debden Sports Reserves were the biggest winners in Division Three as they recorded three points on the road in a big 4-0 victory at Euro Stars with Zachariah Appauh scoring twice, Jack Sawdon and Edward Bines with the others.

There was a win also for Manford Way Reserves who scored twice without reply in a 2-0 home victory against Condor Under 23s. Luca Allen-McKie was the difference between the sides, his two goals completing a Manford win.

Just across the lane at Fairlop, Newbury Drive continued a decent start to the new season and were up against their local rivals, Ping City Phoenixes. Drive were the side to leave the happier, 2-1 winners on the day.

The “East” derby ended locked at 2-2 with East Park Rovers taking a point at home against East London Ballers Under 23s with Charlie Bliss and Joshua Fagbohun scoring for the hosts.

DIVISION FOUR

Redbridge Athletic produced the biggest win of the day, 10-3 winners over Dagenham United helped by four Junior Milla goals and two each from Camron Coley, Emmanuel Chukwumah and Jessie Malolo. Danny Acquaye, Lee Dwyer and Dean Hurch scored in reply.

A strong second half performance gave Chingford Athletic the points in Dagenham, beating Valence United 6-1 through Andre Graham’s hat-trick and one apiece from Billy Johnson, Darryl Wilson and Bobby Deemer. Jamie Wooster struck with the Valence goal.

JK Silvertown Reserves left it late to earn three points at home to Warren United in the Forest Road derby, winning the game 3-2 with a Joey May brace leading the way and one from Steven Starkey off the bench.

Over in Dagenham, two sides couldn’t be separated as Gatcliffe and Leytonstone Athletic went head-to-head in their contest. The match ended in a 3-3 draw by full-time as both teams took home a point.

DIVISION FIVE

There were twelve goals in the game between Rainham Working Mens Club Reserves and United Amateurs, the visitors leaving 8-4 winners as Afolabi Olugbile and Jack Chawner both scored hat-tricks, Oliver Hammond and Ryan Bhebhe with the others while Daniel Sneddon (2), Lewis Stevens and Sam Owen netted for the Workies.

It was an eight-goal game in Noak Hill where Ace Athletics netted a 6-2 win over Valence United Reserves with Bailey Pryce and Zak O’Shayer scoring twice, Joshua Craske and Thomas Mason with the others, rendering Maxuel Souza and Keenan Mitchell efforts as consolation.

Lonsdale produced their first win of the new season, making the trip to Barkingside to face Eastside Athletic. Danny Fenn’s strike for Athletic was overcome by two Alin Lazor goals and one from Eldin Pateriku, Lonsdale leaving 3-1 winners.

A close game in Walthamstow saw just a single goal separate the sides in the clash between Young Royals and Barking Colts where Akeem Matthews scored the game’s only goal to hand Colts a 1-0 win.

DIVISION SIX

Forest Albion were the division’s biggest winners on Sunday, securing three points on the road at Zone 4 Athletic as Bobby Horne and Freddy Freeman hat-tricks helped Albion win 6-0.

Six was the theme in two other games also, beginning at Parsloes Park where Barkingside were 6-2 winners against United Amateurs Reserves despite goals from Tevin Julius and Kieran Gambier.

Completing the six club were Highams Park Rangers who were big 6-1 winners over Hale End Athletic Deaf, overcoming a Joshua Austen goal with Carl White’s hat-trick along with strikes from Mason Harper, Simeone Hurley and Hakeem Akerele.

Romford Bullsharks moved top of the league following a hard fought 3-2 home success against Hainault Athletic with George Creedon, Reiss Bradley and Tommy Foster all on the scoresheet, Claudius Edwards and John East responding for Hainault.

It’s two wins from two for Ridgeway Rovers Under 21s as the young side produced a 3-0 winning scoreline against Rush Green Rangers courtesy of two Romeo Cuchillo goals and another from Jonathan Ochieng.

COUNTY CUP

In the Essex Sunday Premier Cup, Prospect Protégé continued their positive start to the season with a local derby victory over Division One side Singh Sabha Barking to book their place in the next round.

The opening London Sunday Challenge Cup action saw four wins for the league sides with Yeni Bogazici the biggest winners after a 7-2 home win over Baddoo to move through to the next round.

Also through into the hat for round two are East London Ballers who travelled south of the river to take on AFC Greenwich Borough and produced a solid 6-1 win on the road to progress on.

Closer to home, it was also a victorious afternoon for Baiteze Squad who were visited by Azteca at Parsloes Park, Baiteze winning the tie in a 5-2 scoreline to safely make the cut for round two.

Completing the quartet of opening round victories, it was victory on the road for AC Milano as they travelled to South London United and completed a solid 3-0 success to make the journey home a positive one.
