WEEK 4 REVIEW: Round-up of all the Corinthian League action from the weekend

DIVISION ONE

It was three points for Baiteze Squad on Sunday as they recorded a 6-0 victory against Singh Sabha Barking with Mohamed Konte, Ashaan Siddik, Keanu Hill, Ibrahim Salih and Oscar Opolot-Oguli all netting.

DIVISION TWO

There was a second win of the season for Gants Hill who picked up a 5-1 win away at Byron Red Star to move second with Umaru Kabia scoring two, Charles Brown-Bampoe, Alex Akanbi and Eesaa Gokalia with the others.

DIVISION THREE

It was a high-scoring contest as Condor Under 23s secured a first point in a 4-4 draw with top of the table Newbury Drive. Mihai Bozianu (2), Maxim Bordian and Ion Chirilov found the net with Luke Newbury-Neale (2), Lucas Verdant and Daniel Gutierrez netting for Drive.

East London Ballers Under 23s earned a first win of the new season as they picked up a hard fought 3-2 home win against Ping City Phoenixes, moving above their opponents by a point in the process.

Also winning by the odd goal were East Park Rovers who were up against Euro Stars sat tenth at the start of the day. It was Rovers who benefitted from the game’s only goal to win this one, 1-0.

Over in Hainault, it was a home victory for Manford Way Reserves who scored twice in their game against Stone Town to win it 2-0, helped by a goal apiece from George Brown and Edward Johnstone.

DIVISION FOUR

East London Spartans continued a strong start to the new season, netting an 8-1 home win over London Legacy helped by four Billy Davis goals and one each from Christopher Hay, Oliver McGill, Darnel Justin and Frankie Parsons, Mali Shields scoring in reply.

It was an eight-goal thriller as Leytonstone Athletic overcame Valence United in a 5-3 scoreline at the Flats. Michael O’Brien struck twice and Jahsiah Weekes once for United but two Taz Mahmoud efforts plus Kevin Mullen, Reece Simpson and Sam Wheatland goals gave their side the points.

The local derby fixture from Castle Green saw Dagenham United taking on local rivals, Gatcliffe on Sunday where a Joshua Morris goal for the former proved not quite enough in the end, Gatcliffe leaving 2-1 winners.

An entertaining game completes the division’s action as Chingford Athletic and Redbridge Athletic had to share the spoils in a 3-3 draw with Andre Graham (2) and Joe Johnson efforts equalled by Emmanuel Chukwumah, Max McIlwaine and Junior Milla strikes.

DIVISION FIVE

There are four teams sitting on six points with Eastside Athletic up to second following a 4-3 win over Highams Park, overcoming David Harris’ hat-trick with goals from Danny Fenn, Kai O’Hare, Logan Hossack and Jack Hobbs.

Lonsdale are up into third place in the standings following a second win in three, completing a 5-2 home win over Valence United Reserves. Emanuel Ntoi scored two with Jani Gjergji, Alin Lazor and Eldin Pateriku goals winning it, Isaac Malillah scoring in consolation.

It ended all square in the division’s other fixture as Barking Colts and United Amateurs couldn’t be separated after ninety minutes in a 1-1 draw with Akeem Matthews’ goal equalled by Eren Ibrahim’s strike.

DIVISION SIX

The biggest winners in Division Six were United Amateurs Reserves who won 7-0 away at Hale End Athletic Deaf helped by four Tevin Julius goals, two from Tylor Junior and one from Jake Gilligan.

It was a case of one man making the difference in the game from Forest Row where Carl White’s four goal haul gave his Highams Park Rangers side a 4-0 win over Zone 4 Athletic to move up into third place.

Nine goals were needed to separate Ridgeway Rovers and Barkingside where Max Chamberlain (2), Sudays Ali, Lorenzo and Romeo Chuchillo all scored in a 5-4 Rovers win. Michael Baker (2), Jay-Kumar Kuniyil and Samuel Green scored for ‘Side in reply.

Hainault Athletic secured their first win of the campaign as they netted themselves a 2-1 away victory over Forest Albion. Asaph Lomena and Luke Sutliff both netted, Glenn Bransgrove responding for Albion, while Lee Chatters’ penalty save proved crucial.

Two further sides were closely matched as Emerson & Upminster shared the points in a 3-3 draw at home to Romford Bullsharks with Callum Coles, Alfie Webb and Archie Larkin scoring for Emerson, Zachary Bussell, James Edwards and Teddy Plume for Romford.

COUNTY CUP

There were mixed results in the Essex Sunday Premier Cup first round where Manford Way produced the biggest win of the day, defeating divisional rivals, Turkmenkoy London, 5-1 in the game from Noak Hill.

There were twelve goals in the local derby match from Chigwell where Colebrook Royals Reserves were taking on Debden Sports from just down the road, Colebrook the side leaving the happier after a 7-5 win.

Another local derby fixture pitted two top flight sides up against each other with Yeni Bogazici eventually winning by the odd goal in a close contest against Colebrook Royals, 2-1 the final scoreline there.

East London Ballers made safe passage into round two but not without a battle as they prevailed by the odd goal in a 5-4 home win over Jurgens Sports to secure their place in the draw.

Another league side to head on into the next round were May & Baker EC who won by the odd goal once again, scoring the fixture’s only goal in a 1-0 win over East London Ballers Reserves.

Barking & Dagenham Wanderers saw their run in the competition reach an end at Robert Clack as they went down in a 4-1 scoreline against Brentwood Sunday League top flight side, JP8.

It was a tough away day for Rainham Working Mens Club on the road as their trip down the A13 to Thames Rovers saw them leave empty handed, defeated 5-0 to curtail their run in the competition.

Also tasting an away defeat in the opening round were East End United who made the shorter trip to take on Chafford United but saw their run come to an end, losing 3-1 on the day.

In the Plumstead Challenge Cup, it was a trip south of the river for AC Milano to take on Hartford Athletic in the opening round with journey home being a fruitful one, following a 2-1 success.
