We have learnt over the past few hours of the tremendously sad passing of current Valence United player and former manager, James 'Jay' Jacobs.
Jay had played in the Essex Sunday Corinthian Football League for both Barking and Valence United over a period of more than ten years with considerable success across both clubs.
This season, Jay was part of the Valence side that were runners-up in Division Five, along with his league cup final appearance in May. He will also be remembered for steering his team to two successive county cup finals in 2022 and 2023
The league offers it's sincerest condolences to all of Jay's family, friends and teammates at this incredibly tough time.
