We all wish Royal Albert the very best of luck as they make the trip to Aveley on Friday night to take on Southend Sunday League outfit, Basildon Athletic, in the Essex Sunday Junior Trophy Final at Parkside - kick-off 7.45pm.

The Beckton based side have followed in the well trodden footsteps of holders, Upshire, last season and had a tremendous season on all fronts, none more so than their epic run to the final of this competition. Having taken in wins against Loxford Lions, Custom House Community, Academy Soccer, CO4 Ultras and Notley Reserves in the early rounds, they then took on fellow Corinthian side, Hornchurch Oakmont, in the semi final. They withstood a second half fightback from Hornchurch to eventually prevail in a 4-2 victory to book their place at Aveley.

As for their opponents, Basildon Athletic similarly compete in Division Two of the Southend Sunday League and, to date, have only suffered one league reverse this season, topping the table in the process with thirteen wins from their sixteen league fixtures. This should therefore be a terrific match between two good quality sides, particularly with a fine surface to play their football on.

It would be fantastic to see other Corinthian clubs and referees over there on Friday to support Royal Albert and hopefully cheer them on to a victory! Best of luck to all of the Albert players and management for their big occasion!
