TROPHYLAND CUP

There was just one game in the weekend’s Trophyland Cup action but it did serve up a shock of sorts as Division Four’s Ridgeway Rovers Under 21s overcame a six place league position deficit to beat fourth placed Asianos Reserves 2-1. Sam May-Parrott and Sonny White served up the two goals for their Rovers side to see them through to the second round.

PREMIER DIVISION

It was a better morning for the Asianos first team who moved up to third place in the Premier Division standings following a big away victory against Warren United on Sunday. Goals from Yaaseen Patel, Troy Hewitt, Matthew Hamilton and Nynja Fahad were enough to earn a big 4-0 win.

El Valiente are also on the climb as they made up ground on the leading sides with a second league victory of the season in East Ham against co-tenants, Flanders. Sam Edwards scored twice for the hosts with a Kieran Bishop strike completing a 3-2 win to move their side up to fifth in the table.

It’s also been a good last few weeks for SL Menfica who, having started inconsistently in the league, are starting to collect up the points, aided by a 5-1 victory on Sunday against Barking & Dagenham Wanderers. Charlie Parish scored a hat-trick with James Dobson and Jack Barraclough efforts rounding off a big win.

DIVISION ONE

Colebrook Royals have cut the deficit at the top of Division One by a couple of points as they returned home from their trip to Newbury Park with all three points after beating Brook Athletic. Jayden Rising scored a hat-trick for Athletic with Louis Abraham netting on his debut but Royals ran in seven goals of their own to win it 7-4.

KLIK remain as the leaders of the division and unbeaten, holding a six point lead as they approach the midway point of their season. They were up against Kulture Klub this week and Aaron Nuet was on target for KLIK. But his efforts were not quite enough to take all of the points as the sides settled for a share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw.

Korona Redbridge have moved up a place in the table as they earned a second league victory of the season on Sunday with a home win against St Augustines in Barkingside. Robert Gold was in a rich vein of form in front of goal for the Saints with a brace but David Smolarek trumped those efforts with a hat-trick to win it 3-2 in favour of Korona.

An exciting game was witnessed in Hainault between sixth placed Oceana and third placed Chingford Athletic with the sides combining to share six goals in an epic contest. Jamie Lyndon scored twice and Ross Curtis once for Athletic but Oceana strikes from Lewis and Joseph Belcher plus a Jack Williamson effort ended it at 3-3.

Completing a morning of draws in the second tier, West Abbey’s recent improvements are notable and they secured a first league point on Sunday with a hard earned point against fourth placed FC Mexico A. Rhys Tyrrell was on the scoresheet for Mexico but Abbey also scored to make it 1-1 and take home a point apiece.

DIVISION TWO

A terrific title race is building at the head of Division Two which currently sees Walthamstow Avenue in pole position having made it six wins from seven on Sunday with a big 6-3 victory at Barking. Zachery Leitch scored twice with Andrew Mercer, Michael Kemp, David Mercer and Bradley O’Donovan netting in response to Barking goals from Charlie Surridge and a Ben King brace.

Chingford Athletic Reserves remain third in the table and in a good position to challenge for honours as they saw off the efforts of Roose on Sunday at Town Mead. Duane Foster, Sam Matthews and James Lee-Legon goals were sufficient for Athletic to record a 3-0 win and confirm a fifth league win of the campaign.

Also remaining well in the promotion frame at present, Abridge Village reminded everybody of their credentials with a thumping 8-0 win on Sunday against FC Mexico B in Hainault. Jermain Leatherdale scored a hat-trick, Alex Robinson and Aaron Gurney each scored twice, with a Scott Burdett effort rounding off a big win to move their side fourth.

And who would back against Hornchurch Oakmont being there or thereabouts come May time as the Chadwell Heath based side picked up a fourth league win at the weekend with a 4-2 victory against Thames Ironworks Community. Thames fought back from two goals down but an Oak brace from Lewis Minton plus singles from Joe Hyatt and Thomas Gibson earned the points.

DIVISION THREE

The gap at the top of Division Three has been cut to just two points as Barking Riverside moved to within two points of the leaders following a big home win on Sunday against Blackwall Rovers. Oussama Bennani continued his own good form with a hat-trick with Joshua Allarakhia netting a brace and Ansalem Obi a single in a 6-2 victory for Barking.

The division’s other unbeaten side are West Essex who picked up a fourth league win on Sunday with a victory against Newham Athletic in Walthamstow. Ola Ogunwamide and Jack Newbury-Neale doubles helped West on their way with Connor Brathwaite and Kameron Lord goals seeing the side to a 7-1 victory to go fourth.

Chigwell United remain third in the standings, aided by their most recent victory which saw them win 3-1 at home to East Ham Inter in their clash at the Met Police Ground. Charlie Cole scored twice for United with Paul Sauvary grabbing the others to take their side to a third win of the season.

Making a move up to eighth place in the table, Lonsdale improved their chances of avoiding the dreaded drop this season by moving up three places a result of their 2-1 victory against Roneo Colts in Dagenham on Sunday. Aldo Vigu and Kalium Fletcher were both on the scoresheet to counter a Michael Lowry effort from the Colts.

Theydon were another side to improve on their points tally at the wrong end of the table as they overcome Alpha in a hard-fought clash. The hosts were 3-0 winners on the day to record just a second league win, moving them up two places to ninth in the standings after six games.

DIVISION FOUR

Much like some of the other divisions, Division Four is shaping up as another classic with Bretons Manor now leading the way at the top by three points helped by an important win over the weekend against Monkhams. Billy Bradley and Joe Walsh were the Manor men on target to win it 2-1 to keep them clear of Roneo Colts for now.

Titans United took advantage of results around them to move up to fifth place which was helped by a decent 3-1 home win in their match against Upshire Forest Reserves at Old Dagenham Park. George Oake bagged the Forest goal but Hamed Hamed and Jamie Rump strikes in reply gave United the points.

The Dons of Romford Athletic are in some decent form of late and made it three wins in the league with a terrific victory against promotion chasing Inter Ladzio in Hainault. Harry Harding, Luke Bates and Jack Jones were then men on target for the Dons to set them on their way to a 3-0 win and give them confidence ahead of their upcoming county cup tie.

DIVISION FIVE

The race in Division Five is offering another close battle with Total Football setting the pace at present, aided by their most recent victory away at Custom House Community in Beckton. Christopher Atkinson, Jonathan Bluff, Carl Parsons and Sachin Bawa got the goals for Total in a 5-1 win that keeps them five points clear at the top.

Ridgeway Rovers Under 21s Reserves are shaping up as the biggest contenders to the title as the division’s remaining unbeaten side picked up a 3-1 win on Sunday against Epping Forest Falcons to enhance their credentials. Kabir Singh’s effort for Falcons proved not quite enough as Regan Marshall’s hat-trick sent Rovers to victory.

Eastern Avenue have moved up to third place in the table as they secured maximum points in their clash at home to Woodford Green United on Sunday at the Flats. Damian Kearney, Eoin Coughlan, Richard Akinyebo and Bankole Fadami grabbed the goals for Avenue to help them to a 4-0 win which sees them keep up their own chances of promotion.

At the other end of the table, it was a great morning for two previously winless sides as Keith Park Rangers picked up their first three point haul in the league with a 4-2 win against Thames Ironworks Community Reserves. Connor Emery scored twice with Ben Gibbins and Hannes Nyberg efforts rounding off the victory.

And it will be have been a morning to savour for East Tilbury Town who had the most local of derbies, taking on co-tenants Cobra at Old Dagenham Park. Stuart Ali, Jamie Hill and Brandon Hubbard grabbed a goal each for Cobra but a Town hat-trick from Glenn Bransgrove plus a Harry Smith goal took the points in a 4-3 win.

ESSEX SUNDAY PREMIER CUP

There was a mouth-watering tie in prospect in the weekend’s Essex Sunday Premier Cup action as Repton Park made the trip to Dagenham to take on Global, the two sides being the reigning champions of their respective leagues. Repton made a slow start and were behind early on but levelled up quickly and then missed a penalty to lead. That proved a pivotal moment as Global ran away with it to progress in a 6-3 scoreline.

ESSEX SUNDAY JUNIOR CUP

The day’s final match saw a re-arranged Essex Sunday Junior Cup tie take place down in the south of the county as Valentine United tried again with their tie away at Corinthians. They returned home with little reward however as Corinthians confirmed their place in round four with a 4-0 victory.
