CORINTHIAN CUP

The week’s round-up begins in the Corinthian Cup competition which saw Division One’s Total Football cause an upset as they took out top flight United Dian away from home to send them through into the second round. Carl Parsons and Nile Painter scored the all important goals to complete a 2-0 success as they now head on to face Theydon Green later this month.

TROPHYLAND CUP

There were plenty of goals in the Trophyland Cup where Division Five’s Lonsdale put in a sterling performance to push Division Three Singh Sabha Barking all the way, the sides combining for a twelve goal contest. Ultimately it was Singh Sabha who went through 7-5 as Matthew Vasu scored a hat-trick, along with doubles from Ryan Dubb and Emmanuel N’Daw. Kalium Fletcher and Charlie Owen both scored twice for Lonsdale in reply with Anthony Scott also on the scoresheet.

Over in Dagenham, one of last season’s big rivalries resumed in the cup as Colebrook Royals were the visitors to take on Valence United in second round action. Rowan Newland and Tommy Abrams both scored for the hosts but the experienced Alan McCormack was in fine form, scoring all four Colebrook goals to win the tie 4-2 and head on through.

SENIOR DIVISION

It’s Manford Way who stay top in the Senior Division although they were held to a draw on Sunday as they entertained East Way Athletic at London Marathon. The sides started the game seven points apart but that was how it remained by full-time with the match finishing at 2-2 to hand each side a point apiece.

In the day’s battle between second and third, it will have been Flyhouse Athletic who came away  the happier of the sides as they took on London All Stars at home, defending the division’s only perfect record. Athletic were 8-0 winners on the day in a comprehensive performance as Gabriel Ogunwomoju scored four, Kieran James netted a hat-trick and Tyrone Scarlett grabbed the other.

Moving up to fourth place were Baiteze Squad who added a fourth league win to their record so far this season as they entertained eleventh placed Secret at Chigwell School. Charlie Heatley, formerly of Mile End Baiteze, came off the bench to net Secret’s only goal as his side went down to a 5-1 defeat.

Over at the Marshes, it was a good trip for Brook Athletic who took on reigning champions Hatch Lane in a great looking match-up. But it was the visitors, Brook, who left the happier of the two clubs as they picked up a 4-1 win in the game to keep themselves well involved with matters around them. Two goals were scored by Craig Jeakins plus efforts from Eamon Payne and Samir Bihmoutine.

Over in East Ham, the local derby game from Flanders saw El Valiente make their move into the top half of the table after they added a third league win to their record following a 2-1 home success against FLY. The experienced duo of Sam Edwards and Calvin Poku scored the hosts’ goals with Tariq Humaid netting the consolation effort for FLY.

DIVISION ONE

The top two remain locked together in Division One where Theydon Green still lead the way on goal difference after a solid home win against Benchviews at Roding Valley which saw Green run out 6-1 winners. Ben Harris put in a four-goal performance for the hosts, Luke Dimond adding to that with two of his own to take all three points.

Over in Hainault, Roose maintained their tilt at the title with another win, recording an eighth success of the season with a home 2-0 win against Royal Lions A who made the short hop through the hedge. Charlie Hawes and Joe McDermott were the scorers for Roose to pick up another three point haul for their side.

Critics have made their move into the top half of the standings, overcoming an eleven point deficit going into the game against Gants Hill and heading out winners by the odd goal in five. Hayes Thomas scored a hat-trick for Critics to help his side win 3-2 and move up to sixth in the table approaching the midway point in the season.

There was a vital game down at Fords Newbury Park as St Augustines took on FIFE, three points separating those sides going into the game in the bottom half of the table. But Saints will have left the happier of the teams as they won 4-2, overcoming FIFE goals from Yaya Bamba and Frankie Sinclair.

DIVISION TWO

AC Milano took advantage of other rivals being out of action to close the gap at the top to just five points, with a game in hand, after they took all three points from their fixture against Inside Success at Flanders Playing Fields. The hosts were 4-0 winners in the game to make it seven wins from nine this season, carrying them up to twenty-two points.

Over in Collier Row, Cloud 9 moved themselves back into third spot in the table as they earnt a strong home win against a visiting East London Harriers side at Forest Row. Cloud were 5-0 winners in the game to make it four wins for the season, moving above two other sides, albeit from a game or two more played.

DIVISION THREE

There were two thrillers in Division Three, beginning at Wanstead Flats where Korona Redbridge picked up just their first league win of the season with a 5-4 winning performance against sixth placed Alpha. Mihail Cojocari scored twice with Dawid Smolarek, Milan Pajak and Adrian Gladyszewski scoring the others in a terrific win.

Over in Hainault, it was first versus second at the Rec with Upshire Forest in town to take on hosts United Amateurs, the latter being the last remaining side with a perfect record so far this season. A predictably close game was eventually won by the hosts as United won 3-2 through goals from Bradley Bennett, Jack Chawner and Leon Arif, leaving the sides locked together on eighteen points.

DIVISION FOUR

As games of football go, a fifteen goal thriller must certainly be classed as rare but that was exactly what was produced by Byron Red Star and Brymans Park where the former produced a 9-6 victory by full-time to take the points. Adrian John scored four, Liam Pickett two with Gabriel Adeshina, Oluwagbeminiyi Adeaga and Matt Warr all score for Star. In reply, Shane Taylor struck a hat-trick, Daniel Munroe scored two and Grant Eagle one as Park found their straps too.

It was also an important morning for Chingford Athletic who at the sixth attempt, finally put a win on the board for the season, overcoming an Eastern Avenue side from mid-table in the process. The Waltham Abbey based side jumped off the bottom of the table with a 3-2 win, moving up a place to eleventh in the process.

Over in Hainault, another goal-filled contest saw hosts Romford Athletic Dons in action at home against Prospect Protégé where the latter went in trailing Dons by twelve points. But an improved performance from the visitors saw them win 4-3 as Alexander Brennand, Joe Elsworth, Ethan Kieran and Luke Pickles all scored to give their side just a second league win.

Second placed Warren Senior got back to winning ways after their first defeat last weekend, picking up all three points with a win at home against Ace Athletics over in Chadwell Heath. Anthony Cooke made the difference once again with a brace, Danny Lowe also netting for Warren to render Joshua Craske’s goal as consolation for Ace in an eventual 3-1 scoreline.

DIVISION FIVE

In Division Five, the unbeaten leaders, Colebrook Royals Reserves, moved seven points clear of the chasing pack as they secured a ninth league win of the campaign with a 3-0 away win against Mayfield Kings in Hainault. Djean Holland scored twice for the Royals with Leo Winer netting the other as they confirm being top of the charts for Christmas.

Moving up into third place are Dagenham Rangers who took their points tally to seventeen for the season with a hard fought 3-2 away win against Debden Sports A over at Chigwell Lane. Alex Williams and David Olulode both struck for the hosts but Rangers goals from Jamie Wooster, Jack Field and Esley Liwala made the difference to confirm the win for their side.

Over at Old Dagenham Park, Titans United were the hosts to Manford Way Reserves, the teams going into the game six points apart before the start. Jake Li was in fine goal scoring form once again for his Manford side, netting a hat-trick to lead the way for his team with Oliver Dosad scoring the other in a 4-2 success. Tommy Edwards and Ricky Phillips scored the United goals in reply.

DIVISION SIX

It’s all change at the top of Division Six where Young Royals have moved top by a three point margin after picking up a win at home against London Legacy at Old Parkonians. Vince Crosdale scored the Legacy goal but his effort proved just consolation in the end as Royals edged the contest in a 2-1 scoreline.

Fourth placed Royal Lions C cut their gap on the side above to just a couple of points as they earned themselves a victory against Epping Royals at Hainault Rec to make it five wins in the league this season. Both of the goals came from Ose Omokhodion as Lions won the game 2-0 to continue their decent form.

Over in Hornchurch, there were ten goals in the game between Zone 4 Athletic and their Ping City Phoenixes counterparts as the sides started the day level on nine points each. But by full-time, that had been extended to twelve for Ping as they ran out 7-3 winners. William Salter and Jack Flood both scored twice with Andy Franklin, James Bishop and Daniel Arnot also netting. Danny Leeder, Jamie Nelson and Ricky Wenhold scored the Zone goals in consolation.

In the day’s match-up in Walthamstow, hosts Ridgeway Rovers faced a Havering Palace side attempting to hold on to their mid-table position going into the fixture. But it was a seventh placed Havering side who came through with the win as they won the game 2-0 to close the gap on the sides above to just a point.

COUNTY CUP

In the day’s delayed Essex Sunday Premier Cup action, Barking Riverside made it nine Corinthian sides through to the last sixteen of the competition as they secured a terrific win on the road away at Woodham Radars to make the draw, winning the tie 5-2.

In the Essex Sunday Junior Cup, three further Corinthian side went safely through with Barking & Dagenham Wanderers into the hat after a 2-1 away day success against Parsonage Leys Reserves in their game in Harlow.

Debden Sports Reserves also faced a long trip down to Rochford as they took on local side Sierra Nevada in their third round clash. It took extra time to separate the sides but eventually Debden went through in a 3-1 scoreline,

Also heading through are Leytonstone Athletic who had the day’s only home win for one of our sides, hosting Thames Rovers in their game at Hainault Rec. A 4-1 win for Leytonstone was the outcome as they head on into the fourth round.

Newbury Forest saw their run in the competition come to an end as they were taken down by a Fryerns Reserves side at home in Hainault, losing that tie 5-0.

Also heading out, albeit after a pulsating game, are Abridge Village whose trip to Harlow Manor did not prove successful as the host side won 5-4 after extra time.
