CORINTHIAN CUP
An eleven-goal thriller in Chigwell saw Yeni Bogazici overcome a potential cupset against Daglanta as they won 6-5 to take their place in the quarter-finals. Obed Sunkwah’s hat-trick led the way with Osman Bayram, Conor Russel and Alison De Pavia also on the scoresheet.
Also through into the hat for the quarter-finals are Brook Athletic who confirmed their place with a strong home performance against Colebrook Royals as two Reece Simpson efforts plus goals from Umar Ali and Garjay Thompson overcame an Omar Mahmood goal for the visitors in a 4-1 win.
The final game from the competition over the weekend came from Parsloes Park where last year’s finalists, AC Milano, were in action with a trip to take on Hatch Lane. It was AC who left the happier from the match, winning 5-1 to move into the last eight.
DIVISION ONE
A cracking game in east London saw JK Silvertown snatch a late winner in their game, winning 3-2 after FC Galaxy had twice fought back to level the game through goals from Daniel Butnaru and Mirceamihai Donco.
It was three points for hosts Upshire Forest in the division’s other game as they entertained St Augustines at Town Mead where a goal apiece for Charlie Kerswell and Lenny Lane were enough to see their side win 2-0.
DIVISION TWO
There were a pair of identical results in Division Two, firstly as leaders East London Ballers Reserves saw their perfect start reach an end with a 3-1 home defeat against Singh Sabha Barking. Dylan Boparai and Samraj Gill both struck for Barking with Ojukwu Chibueze netting Ballers’ goal.
That was the same scoreline as the game at Westlands where Warren Senior produced their fifth win of the season with a 3-1 win against Barking & Dagenham Wanderers, Joshua Renwick-Smith on target with the latter’s consolation effort.
DIVISION THREE
Two points separate the top three in Division Three as Byron Red Star came out on the right side of a seven-goal thriller against ninth placed Condor Reserves, Gabriel Ogunmokun scoring a hat-trick and Adrian John the other in a 4-3 success.
Manford Way also produced a strong performance on their last runout of the calendar year, travelling to Euro Stars and returning with three points in a 7-1 win as Dylan Fagan and William Sandell both scored twice, Archie Locke, Jacob Richards and Ollie Scott adding the others.
Prospect Protégé leaped above their opponents into fourth place after a 2-0 away victory over South Ilford Catholics at Mayfield Leisure Centre, moving a point clear through a goal each from Tommy Burke and Sipho Nyoni.
It ended all square in a high-scoring 3-3 draw in the game between Debden Sports Reserves and Romford Town Flyers where Jack Sawdon, Edward Bines and Elliot Betts goals for Sports were equalled by Town goals from Harry Glenister, Patrick Kizito and Tashinga Chinyadza.
DIVISION FOUR
Leaders May & Baker EC returned to winning ways this weekend, remaining unbeaten at the top of the pile following a 4-1 home victory against Royal Lions after Shane Redford bagged himself a hat-trick and Jordan Miller added the other.
Goals weren’t hard to come by in another of the games from the fifth tier where the battle of the “East” sides saw East Park Rovers combine with East End United to produce an eleven-goal thriller, United the side to leave with the honours after a 6-5 win.
It was a victory too for sixth placed East London Ballers Under 23s who took produced a winning home performance in their game against Cardinals Athletic with Mohammed Malik scoring two, Jordan Burnett and Serglo Kiona adding the others in a 4-1 win.
The other game from the division saw a tightly contested affair between two other “East” sides as East London Spartans edged a close game with Eastern Avenue, 2-1 the final scoreline, that being Spartans’ third win of the campaign.
DIVISION FIVE
Epping Town have returned to the top of the Division Five table for Christmas as they beaten previous leaders, Alpha, by the odd goal to win 2-1. Joseph Bothwell added to his scoring record with another couple of goals which proved decisive on the day.
Newbury Drive and Asianos started the day with just a point between themselves and that was how it ended by full-time after the sides finished level at 1-1 to share the spoils with Andrew Moffat on target for the hosts.
DIVISION SIX
There were goals aplenty in Division Six beginning with a ten-goal contest from Walthamstow where Lonsdale and JK Silvertown Reserves traded early gifts with JK leaving as 6-4 winners despite a Ylli Shahinaj hat-trick and Klalnti Chotza’s goal for Lonsdale.
It was just the seven goals in the next of the contests as Chingford Athletic’s strong run of form saw them net a 7-0 away win over Newbury Kings with Bradley Williams and Andre Graham both scoring two, Raheem Isaac, James Webster and Darryl Wilson the others.
Over at Hall Lane, it was a five-goal thriller to round things out as Newroe United secured a first win of the campaign to net a 3-2 win against Emerson & Upminster for whom Alfie Webb and James Harris had both struck with goals.
DIVISION SEVEN
Romford Bullsharks produced a terrific performance over Rush Green Rangers to win their game 11-0 in Rainham, aided by hat-tricks from Zachary Bussell and James Edwards, two from Ricky Hall and strikes from Jack Edwards, Daniel Snell and Callum O’Sullivan.
The final action of the day came from Hainault Rec where Barkingside were taking on a United Amateurs Reserves side starting the day with a two-point advantage. That was extended to five as Frankie Gilligan and Jose Ribera goals gave United the 2-0 win.
