SENIOR DIVISION CUP
An entertaining game saw the points shared in the group stage tie from Chigwell School where Yeni Bogazici and AC Milano ended at 3-3 in their fixture with Akiljo Balliu the scorer of all three goals for Milano.
DIVISION ONE
Repton Park regained some winning form on Sunday morning as they left Newbury Park with all three points after a 4-2 success against St Augustines. Thomas House was the architect of the win with a hat-trick, George Johnson with the other goal, while Ethelbert Thomas scored two for Saints.
It was another tight affair in the game between FC Galaxy and JK Silvertown who met again following their pre-festive battle, the odd goal in three enough for JK to win it 2-1 this time, Mekhi Clarke and Lashian Johnson goals overcoming one from Mihai Mareniuc.
Over at Whitbreads Sports Ground, it ended all square at 2-2 in the fixture between Woodford Town and Upshire Forest, the teams finishing a point apart in the table, exactly as they had started. Riley Bowers and Reggie Pegrum struck the goals for Upshire.
DIVISION TWO CUP
In the quarter-finals of the cup, there was a big win for Northbrooks in their tie against Benchviews, the relegation-threatened side moving into the last four following a 3-1 win helped by goals from Musen Kamel, Mohammed Aziz and Yaya Abdoulaye. Emerson Bargao scored for Benchviews in reply.
They will be joined in the last four by CSM London who also moved to within ninety minutes of a cup final appearance on the back of a big away win over Endurance Athletics, CSM leaving 6-2 winners and through to the semi-finals.
DIVISION TWO
Back in the league, Singh Sabha Barking were the visitors up against Barking & Dagenham Wanderers in their latest fixture, Singh Sabha leaving the happier as Lewis Clarke-Little struck two, Jordan Hamilton, Samraj Gill and Leon McKenzie with the others in a 5-1 win.
DIVISION THREE CUP
There was first round action in the Division Three Cup where two promotion chasing sides went head to head with Prospect Protégé leaving with a 2-1 win under their belts against Turkmenkoy. Joe Ellis and Archie Kieran scored the goals with Jo Magege netting in reply for the visitors’ consolation.
DIVISION THREE
It was two symmetrical results in the league where, firstly, Manford Way recorded a terrific home win with a 7-1 win over Condor Reserves. Ronan McGoldrick was on fire with four goals, just one better than the hat-trick performance of colleague, Ollie Scott.
That was the exact same score from the other game where Romford Town Flyers found their shooting boots in a comprehensive 7-1 home win over Debden Sports Reserves. Edward Bines scored for Sports but Kane Ledeatte’s hat-trick plus goals from Tawfiq Rahman, Bubacarr Touray and Shaun Grodent were too much.
DIVISION FOUR CUP
There were three quarter-finals completed in the Division Four Cup, starting in Dagenham where Cardinals Athletic moved into the last four after a 6-2 win over Eastern Avenue, courtesy of hat-tricks from Brendan Anamole and Daniel Acquaye.
In the game from Rainham, it was East End United who triumphed over the league leaders, May & Baker EC, as Ernest Okoh, Ryan Mallet and Joseph Connor all struck in a 3-1 victory to put their side through too.
It was victory for another of the “East” sides too as East Park Rovers took their place in the last four of the competition following a 4-1 away win over East London Ballers Under 23s, helped by braces from Joshua Fagbohun and Aderemi Aderogba.
DIVISION FOUR
There was an eight-goal contest back in the league where Royal Lions struck three but were undone by Colebrook Royals A netting five in a 5-3 success, aided by Royals goals from Jake Austin (2), Harvey Webb and Jonathan Lomotey.
DIVISION FIVE CUP
The Division Five Cup first round action saw a big win in the game from Walthamstow where Ping City Phoenixes recorded a 5-1 home win against local rivals, Alpha, to make the quarter-finals. Ezra Waterman scored two with Tom Carter, Jack Flood and Varun Syal adding the gloss.
Up at Stonards Hill, Epping Town were visited by Athletic Newham in their first round tie where it was the hosts leaving the happier of the two teams with Joseph Bothwell, Nathan Henderson and James Smith-Pryor goals the difference between the two sides.
DIVISION FIVE
At Hainault Rec, it was a big win for United Amateurs who earned just a second league win of the season in beating Young Royals 6-1. Jack Chawner struck with four goals with Tylor Junior and Alfie Salter scoring the others.
DIVISION SIX CUP
Valence United B continued their good run of form with a cup win this time around, defeating Lonsdale at Barking Park in a 3-1 scoreline to reach the quarter-finals. Jack Howard, Reece Stanley and Jahsiah Weekes all struck to overcome Artur Preci’s goal for the visitors.
DIVISION SIX
Draws were the order of the day in the league where one of the high-scoring variety saw Legacy City have to settle for a share of the points in a 3-3 draw against Warren United with Dylan West, Teddy Good and Oliver Regan all netting for United.
Two first half goals were the only scoring efforts of the game between Coppice Row and Newroe United as Row’s effort midway through the half was levelled up by Daniel Munroe’s goal for United just before the break, the match finishing 1-1.
DIVISION SEVEN CUP
In the first round of the Division Seven Cup, it was a close game between the two “H” sides in the division as Hainault Athletic finished level at ninety minutes with Highams Park Rangers. It was Rangers who held their nerve in the shootout to win 3-2 and progress into the last eight.
DIVISION SEVEN
There was a certain symmetry in the two completed league games where, firstly, Zone 4 Athletic were held to a 3-3 draw at home against Barkingside in their game with Luke Caston netting two and Zac Doyle one for Zone.
That same scoreline was reflected in the day’s other game too where Barking Colts and United Amateurs Reserves’ local derby fixture saw them finish level at 3-3. Emmanuel Fowowe scored two and Akeem Matthews once while Thomas O’Connell scored two and Alfie Green one in reply.
FA SUNDAY CUP
A tough draw awaited East London Ballers on Sunday evening as they took on reigning national champions, Highgate Albion, in the last sixteen. But a sparking first hour of the game saw Ballers gain a 3-0 lead and, despite an Albion fightback, Ballers held on to finish 4-1 winners and into the quarter-finals.
COUNTY CUP
In the London Sunday Challenge Cup, the league will have representation once again at the semi-final stage as Baiteze Squad progressed on the back of a shootout victory over Greenwich Park Rangers, the match having ended 3-3 at ninety minutes before a 4-3 Baiteze win from spotkicks.
Another semi-finalist was confirmed in the London Sunday Trophy competition also where AC Milano Reserves assured themselves of a last four place following a 2-0 home win over Cryfield Athletic in Newbury Park.
It was a clean sweep of wins following the London Junior Cup action where Edmonton Rovers were the hosts to an East London Ballers Reserves side looking to progress on. A close game saw Ballers get into a lead before holding off a Rovers fightback to win the tie 2-1 and through into the last eight.
In the Essex Junior Cup, Colebrook Royals Reserves are through to the quarter-finals of the competition following victory in their rearranged clash with Feering United, returning down the A12 following a 4-1 success.
It was a close game in the competition’s other tie as Byron Red Star took on a Hannakins Farm side ranked two levels above them and were edged out by the odd goal in nine, Hannakins winning the tie 5-4 at Hylands Park to progress on.
The all-Corinthian clash in the Essex Junior Trophy saw two Division Six sides meet in Debden and it was JK Silvertown Reserves who left with the win secured, defeating Chingford Athletic in a 2-0 scoreline to move into the quarter-finals.
A tightly contested game in east London saw Mansfield Rangers up against a Queens Park Hannakins side from three levels above them, the visitors eventually prevailing in a 2-1 scoreline to head on through into the last eight.
Also heading out of the competition were Newbury Drive who were up against Nishmans in their tie in Hainault, the Brentwood League side recording a 3-1 win to put themselves through where they now play JK Silvertown.
OUTSIDE COMPETITIONS
It was third round action in the Plumstead Challenge Cup as Brook Athletic had home advantage in their clash with south London-based Metrogas. With the sides finishing level at 3-3 at ninety minutes, spotkicks were needed and it was the visitors who held their nerve to win that 4-1.
