WEEK 22 REVIEW: Round-up of all the Corinthian League action from the weekend

CORINTHIAN CUP
Former winners of the competition, Brook Athletic, are through into the last four of the competition once again after securing their place with a hard fought 3-2 away victory against Baiteze Squad at Parsloes Park. Golden Ogbineweka, Zivonimir Lopes and Tyreece Robertson were on the scoresheet to put their side through.
SENIOR DIVISION CUP
Hatch Lane and Club 1017 renewed old acquaintances in the Senior Division Cup and it was a case of two well matched sides as the game ended locked at 1-1 to share the spoils. That result means Club must win their remaining to retain hopes of progressing while Hatch also need to pick up points from their remaining three games.
DIVISION ONE CUP
In the Division One Cup quarter-finals, Repton Park are through to the semi-finals of the competition after a big 8-2 win against Benchviews in their tie in Newbury Park. Alex O’Neil’s hat-trick, braces from Jayden Ambrose and Albert Hellen, plus George Johnson’s goal proved enough.
DIVISION ONE
Down at Castle Green, Barking Riverside were in home action with the visit of St Augustines, the visitors starting the day four points ahead of their opponents. And that was how it stayed by full-time with the teams locked at 2-2 by the end.
DIVISION TWO CUP
In Newbury Park, Singh Sabha Barking were up against City Site in the first round of the competition and it was the hosts leaving the happier of the two teams, Singh Sabha racking up a 9-0 win. Sarwan Birak scored a hat-trick off the bench, Omari Williams notched two, Dilminder Rai, Mohammed Abdul, Indervir Virdi and Jag Rathore adding the gloss on the scoresheet.
DIVISION TWO
Leaders Woodford Town have moved into a five point lead at the top of Division Two after taking home all three points from their clash with Barking & Dagenham Wanderers at Whitbreads Sports Ground. Ben Dimond and Sonny Clarke scored the game’s only goals in a 2-0 success for Town.
Up in Waltham Abbey, the same scoreline was reflected in the other game from the division where Upshire Forest moved up into fifth place in the standings after a 2-0 win against East London Ballers Under 23s. Jay Digance and Leighton Hughes-Franklin netted the all important Forest goals.
DIVISION THREE
Leytonstone Athletic moved back to the top of Division Three as their trip to Romford Town Flyers saw them end up 5-2 winners. Louis Albon and Lloyd Ross netted for Flyers but two Jack Ferris goals in reply, along with strikes from Marlon Frank-Opigo, Lee Harris and Ryan Kelland saw the points head with the visitors.
DIVISION FOUR CUP
It was quarter-final for two sides in the Division Four Cup where Asianos were looking to follow up their first round result with another, facing up to a Prospect Protégé side in east London. And it was the hosts who kept their form going, Asianos 4-0 winners to head into the semi-finals.
DIVISION FOUR
In Division Four, leaders Manford Way have moved four points clear in the race for the title, their latest endeavours seeing them take all three points in a 2-1 home win against cup semi finalists, Eastern Avenue. Callum Owen and Herman Mwanza scored the goals in a 2-1 success.
Not far away, at Hainault Rec, Royal Lions bounced back to winning ways as they entertained a Cardinals Athletic side sat two points behind at the start of the day. But Lions roared their way to victory, 6-2 winners to move up into fourth place in the table.
DIVISION FIVE CUP
In the Division Five Cup, first round action saw Young Royals and Athletic Newham compete in their tie in Hornchurch. Tim Mason struck for Newham but that proved not quite enough in the end as Royals struck late on in the game to win it 2-1 and move into the last eight.
In the quarter-finals, May & Baker EC made the trip into east London to take on Alpha at Wanstead Flats. A close game saw the sides finish level at 101 with Jake Skeet netting for the hosts and Alex Paraskeva for Bakers. Alpha then held their nerve in the shootout, winning that 3-1 to head on.
DIVISION FIVE
Valence United B were in fine form in Division Five, netting win number six this season following a big 10-1 home win against Legacy City in Dagenham. Tommy Abrams scored a hat-trick, Ashley Collins and Ryan Knight struck twice, Charlie Surridge, Rowan Newland and Enzo Victoriano adding the others.
DIVISION SIX CUP
In the Division Six Cup, there was quarter-final action from Hainault where Colebrook Royals A and Newbury Drive met. Harvey Webb and James Deaney both scored for Royals but two Newbury goals from Mitchell Edmonds and one from Charlie Thompson meant their team won the tie 3-2.
DIVISION SIX
Over at Oakside, JK Silvertown Reserves were in home action with the visit of Inter Newbury, the latter starting the game six points adrift of their opponents. But that was reduced to three by the end as Inter won the game 4-1 to move further clear of relegation worries.
DIVISION SEVEN
Warren United have moved to within two points of the leaders in Division Seven after picking up an eighth win of the season, defeating United Amateurs Reserves 4-2. Oliver Regan scored twice, Daniel Beresford and Harry Turner once each for Warren with Ryan McIver and Rony Zakaria scoring the visitors’ consolations.
Down at Hall Lane, Emerson & Upminster netted five in their 5-1 victory against Romford Bullsharks to close the gap on the promotion places to five points. Alfie Webb scored twice with Louis Cook-Forrester, Callum Coles and Charlie Monaghan adding the others while Jack Newins netted in reply for Romford.
CHARITY CUP
The action was completed in the West Essex Sunday Charity Trophy where East End United saw their run continue in the competition following a close game with Hackney League side Flamengo, the tie ending 1-1 at ninety minutes. East End then prevailed from the shootout to book their place in March’s semi-final.
