WEEK 22 REVIEW: Round-up of all the Corinthian League action from the weekend

NATIONAL CUP

It was FA Sunday Cup quarter-final day at the weekend with East London Ballers drawn at home against Shire United where a couple of Baller goals were enough for them to win the tie 2-0 and book a national cup semi-final berth against Hartlepool AFC Supporters next month.

CORINTHIAN CUP

In the Corinthian Cup, an all-Division One clash saw another meeting of JK Silvertown and AC Milano Reserves and it was the visitors who took the honours on this occasion, Milano winning 4-1 to set up a quarter-final against the holders in the next round.

SENIOR DIVISION

It ended all square in the day’s sole surviving top flight action where Baiteze Squad drew 2-2 with Brook Athletic at Parsloes Park. Imedd Kartita and Hussein Mahdi scored for the hosts with Shomari Barnwell and Elton Tettey on target for Brook.

DIVISION ONE

Down at Castle Green, hosts FC Galaxy were in action with the visit of Repton Park where it was the visitors leaving the happier following a 4-2 win. Jayden Ambrose scored a hat-trick, Joe Kemp and Griff Morgan netting the others, Adam Manuel and Mihai Mareniuc scoring for Galaxy.

DIVISION TWO CUP

It was semi-final day in the Division Two Cup with the one surviving tie seeing CSM London up against Northbrooks at The Foundry. It was CSM who triumphed, winning the game 3-1 to put themselves through into a final later in the season.

DIVISION THREE

It was an away success for South Ilford Catholics who rattled in five goals without reply to see off hosts Euro Stars, 5-0. Ben Spicer proved too hot to handle with a hat-trick, Iziengbe Ikponmwosa-Ikuero and Nero El Amino adding the others.

DIVISION FOUR

The big game in Division Four came from Parsloes Park where May & Baker EC kept themselves in a strong position for the title after a narrow 2-1 win over closest rivals, East End United. Shane Hovell and Shane Redford goals proved vital, overcoming Mike Elsmore’s goal for the visitors.

There was a five-goal thriller in the game from Castle Green where Cardinals Athletic edged it by the odd goal against Royal Lions, winning 5-4 through a Ryan Birch hat-trick and further goals from Michael Peters and Ryan Lea-Cox.

Completing the action from the division, the battle of the “East” sides saw East London Spartans secure three more points as they recorded a 3-0 away success over East London Ballers Under 23s with a goal apiece from Frankie Parsons, Michael Taylor and Zac Leitch.

DIVISION FIVE CUP

The Division Five Cup quarter-final action saw Ping City Phoenixes taking on Young Royals with a place in the semi-finals at stake. It was Ping who took the win as Jack Flood’s hat-trick helped them to a 6-1 victory, William Hunt, Phil Herman and Ryan Radley notching the others.

DIVISION FIVE

It was victory Newbury Drive who produced a 9-2 goal-filled win over London Legacy at Parsloes Park. Arkont Berisha and Bryan Smith goals for Legacy were overcome by a Drive brace from Lucas Verdant and singles from Luke Newbury-Neale, Billy Happe, Mitchell Mills, Graham Bryan and Andrew Moffat.

DIVISION SIX CUP

Valence United B had to come from a goal down to a first half Warren United opener in their quarter-final tie in the Division Six Cup, with Jack Howard scoring twice in the second period, along with Dallion Mohammed’s effort, the match ending 3-1 to the hosts.

DIVISION SIX

In the game from east London in Division Six, Chingford Athletic were the side leaving the happier after a 6-0 win against Newroe United where James Webster’s hat-trick led the way, Bradley Williams, Maamoon Khan and Jermaine Jenden goals adding the gloss.

DIVISION SEVEN

Victory for the top side, Ace Athletics, saw them move to within a couple of wins of title glory in Division Seven, notching up a 7-1 win at Robert Clack against Rush Green Rangers courtesy of two Craig Cagehin efforts and one each from Joshua Craske, Jake James, Thomas Mason, Panny Artemiou and Jamie Curtis.

In the earlier game at the same venue, the closest challengers for the title, Collier Row Under 23s ensured they kept alive those hopes for a while longer with a 2-1 win over Barkingside helped by a goal apiece from Luka Chukwu and Ernest Peka.
