WEEK 24 REVIEW: Round-up of all the Corinthian League action from the weekend

TROPHYLAND CUP

The semi-final line-up is now confirmed in the Trophyland competition as Newbury Drive confirmed an all-Division Five tie following a win over higher ranked East Park Rovers, winning 4-1 with a Graham Bryan hat-trick and Mitchell Mills’ effort.

The other semi will be an all-Division Three affair after Byron Red Star came through a tough last eight tie against Epping Town, edging it 3-2 despite Town goals from James Smith-Pryor and Matthew Winter at Stonards Hill.

Joining Byron in that clash will be Manford Way who clinically dispatched lower ranked opposition with a 7-2 win over East London Ballers Under 23s. Sonny Binet scored a hat-trick, William Sandell, Jacob Richards, Ollie Scott and Fred Brislen-Hall netting the others. Mohammed Malik and Omar Farah scored for Ballers in consolation.

ENDEAVOUR CUP

Also through to a league cup semi-final are JK Silvertown Reserves who had home advantage in their last eight game with Coppice Row, the hosts bouncing back from their disappointment of county cup exit last Sunday to win this one, JK 4-1 victors at full-time.

SENIOR DIVISION

Back in the league, in the Senior Division, Baiteze Squad were in winning form in their away trip to old territory as they faced Yeni Bogazici at Chigwell School. Baiteze kept their momentum moving forward ahead of a couple of key cup games, winning this one 3-1.

DIVISION ONE

In Division One, Upshire Forest’s strong form saw them earn a vital three points with a 2-0 away win over JK Silvertown in east London to close the gap at the top. Leighton Hughes-Franklin and Louie Fahrenback scored the goals to move them into second spot.

The other game came from Dagenham and saw FC Galaxy in action with a home game against St Augustines where the hosts extended the gap between the sides to seven points, Galaxy winning the game 3-0.

DIVISION TWO CUP

The line-up for the Division Two Cup has been confirmed following Sunday’s second semi-final where Colebrook Royals Reserves ended level at 2-2 at full-time against Singh Sabha Barking, Oscar Simmons scoring twice for Royals, Manshaant Mahil and Samraj Gill netting for Barking. It was the latter who held their nerve in resulting shootout to send their side through.

DIVISION TWO

In the league, East London Ballers Reserves remain top of the table as they took home all three points from Harlow with a 3-0 success away at Endurance Athletics. Junior Milla struck twice with Camron Coley adding the other.

The other game saw nine-goals in the contest between CSM London and Barking & Dagenham Wanderers where it was the visitors leaving 6-3 winners after two Lance Lord-George goals and one each from Ricky Brown, Keanan Bancroft, Segun Balogun and Harvi Shehi.

DIVISION THREE

Goals were the theme in the game at Chigwell Lane also where Debden Sports Reserves netted five in their 5-3 home win against Stone Town. Zachariah Appauh scored two, Jack Sawdon, Elliot Betts and George Scott notching the others for their side.

A big game affecting matters near the top saw leaders, Turkmenkoy London, drop vital points after a 2-1 away defeat against third placed Prospect Protégé as Tommy Burke and Archie Kieran goals made all the difference between the sides.

It took just a single goal to separate the sides in the final game from the division where South Ilford Catholics scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win over bottom of the table Condor Reserves, the hosts moving up into fifth place as a result.

DIVISION FOUR CUP

The line-up for the Division Four Cup Final is now complete after Colebrook Royals A produced a strong display in the semi-final at Cardinals Athletic, winning 6-1 through two goals from Arthur Massingham and James Deaney plus goals from Jake Austin and Oliver West. Brendan Anamole struck with the Cardinals goal in reply.

DIVISION FOUR

East End United bounced back from their reverse last time out to record a high-scoring win in their home clash with Eastern Avenue. They were 7-4 winners with Alfie Stouchbury and Loui Grech scoring two, Jack Jackson, Ryan Mallett and Billy Bradley adding the others.

DIVISION FIVE

Ping City Phoenixes are up into third place in the standings as they continue their promotion hunt, completing a 7-2 home win over Athletic Newham. Danny Hession-Canham and Ronnie Wilson netted for Newham but Jack Flood (2), Tom Carter, Phil Herman, Varun Syal, William Hunt and Ezra Waterman goals turned the tide.

DIVISION SIX CUP

Newbury Kings overcame a big points gap on their quarter-final opponents, Legacy City, to send themselves through into the semi-finals, winning their replay 3-1 in Hainault on Sunday to set up a home clash with JK Silvertown Reserves.

DIVISION SEVEN CUP

It was semi-finals day in the Division Seven Cup where Romford Bullsharks overcame higher ranked opposition on penalties 3-1 after a 3-3 draw in normal time with Zone 4 Athletic. Marcos Haley scoring twice and Ryan Richardson once for Zone, Zachary Bussell, James Edwards and Ricky Hall goals equalling those efforts.

They will be joined in the final by Barking Colts who took their place after a 6-3 home win over Collier Row Under 23s where two Akeem Matthews goals plus efforts from John Mansoori, Chineyeiho Chidiebere, Sharn Quinn and Nabil Salim proved enough for the win.

DIVISION SEVEN

Back in the league, Ace Athletics have moved to within a point of securing the league title following their hard fought 3-2 win over Highams Park Rangers with Craig Cagehin, Joshua Craske and Panny Artemiou scoring the goals.

That same scoreline was reflected in the game from the Rec where Hainault Athletic overcame United Amateurs Reserves by the odd goal, winning 3-2 after strikes from Wasiu Lawal, Jamie Howes and Terry Downing. Alfie Green got on the United scoresheet in reply.

At Forest Row, it was victory for the visitors as Barkingside wrapped up all three points in a 4-1 win at Rush Green Rangers with Brooklyn Johnson proving the difference with a hat-trick, Lochian Bishop netting the other, while Thomas Rayner scored for Rangers off the bench.

COUNTY CUP

It was a strong day for league clubs in the London competitions as AC Milano Reserves booked a place in the London Sunday Challenge Trophy Final, following the efforts of their first team a few years ago, on the back of a 4-0 home win over AFC Kumazi Strikers. They now face FC Trent Park on 12th April at Glebe FC.

Another side through into a final are Chingford Athletic who took their place in the London Sunday Junior Shield showpiece with an equally emphatic 4-0 win away at Hillside Elite, setting up a final against FC Porto of London on 19th April at Glebe FC.

It wasn’t as good news in the Essex Sunday Premier Cup where East London Ballers saw their progress thwarted at the last against a strong Gaslights side who took their chances when they came about, winning 2-1 at Parsloes.
