NATIONAL & COUNTY CUP

It was another great weekend for our Corinthian sides in outside cup action as another county cup finalist was confirmed on Sunday with Theydon Green coming through an epic semi-final in the Essex Sunday Junior Cup, defeating Kent View United 5-4 after extra time. That result put sent them into the final where they will now take on Santos at Bowers & Pitsea on Sunday 10th April. Big congratulations to Russ and all the boys. We look forward to seeing you there to cheer you on!

A little further north, on the outskirts of Doncaster, Baiteze Squad made the long trip to Brodsworth Miners Welfare for their big FA Sunday Cup quarter-final clash, taking on Scawthorpe Athletic in front of a crowd in the many hundreds. Despite a shaky start, they went into the break with a 2-1 lead, eventually winning the tie 4-2 overall. They now head to St George’s Park to take on Middlesbrough Dormans in the semi-finals, later in the month.

DIVISION ONE CUP

Back on the domestic cups front, there were four semi finals played on Sunday with AC Milano booking their place at Aveley in three weeks’ time on the back of a hard fought 1-0 victory against an in-form FC Mexico A side. Just a single goal was enough on the day as they set up a game against either Chingford Athletic or Theydon Green.

DIVISION TWO CUP

Division Two’s Cup saw some quarter final action as St Augustines and Korona Redbridge met once again to try and seal a place in the last four. An entertaining game of seven goals eventually saw Saints go through having overcome a spirited Korona fightback. Augustine Appiah and Callum Daniels each netted two, rendering home goals from Arkadiusz Buski, Milan Pajak and Dawid Smolarek as just consolation in a 4-3 final scoreline.

DIVISION THREE CUP

The two Division Three Cup semi finals took place simultaneously at the weekend with Higham Hill putting their name on the door for the big occasion as they won convincingly, 5-2, against Debden Sports Reserves. Zachery Leitch netted two, along with efforts from Jeffrey Erhabor, Billy Jago and Charlie Saywood, overcoming Debden goals from James Crowe and Charlie Harper.

Over at Town Mead, another battle between two of the top sides in the division saw Upshire Forest play host to Leytonstone Athletic in what proved to be a really tight contest, settled by the odd goal. Riley Bowers, Haydn Essam and Leighton Hughes-Franklin all struck for Forest, overcoming George Burton’s brace for Athletic in a 3-2 win to net them a place in the final in just a few weeks time,

DIVISION FIVE CUP

It was quarter-finals day for four sides in the Division Five Cup where Valence United followed up their terrific win last weekend with another on Sunday as they won 8-0 against United Borough in Dagenham. Rowan Newland scored a hat-trick, Ben King scored twice and efforts from Burt Cardy, Jordan Cook and Michael O’Brien finished things off to go through.

Over in Barkingside, bottom of the table Young Royals went into their home quarter final hoping to turn around their recent form, facing an in-form Byron Red Star outfit also eager to progress. The game proved to be a closely fought affair but Byron ended the happier of the two teams with goals from Richie Morris and Stefanos Ladoukakis netting them a 2-0 victory.

DIVISION SIX CUP

One of the weekend’s big Division Six Cup semi-finals avoided the inclement weather with Woodford Green United’s home tie going ahead against fellow Hainault Rec tenants, Royal Lions C. A close game was expected in this one and that was what was delivered as Lions settled the fixture by the odd goal in three, winning 3-2 to await the victors from the clash between Mansfield Rangers and Epping Royals.

SENIOR DIVISION

The gap at the top of the Senior Division table was cut to six points on Sunday as FC Ballr took advantage of their rivals being out of action to extend their grip on second place with a big 7-1 win against Repton Park at Hainault Rec. Maximilian Gnandi scored a hat-trick for the hosts with Ben Byrne, Courtney Homans, Timothy Ogunrinde and Ayomikun Odukoya goals finishing it off.

East Way Athletic will still have a big say on how things pan out at the top of the division and they stayed in touch with those above with a solid 4-0 win on Sunday away against Secret in Rainham. That was Athletic’s seventh league win in eleven this season, placing them eight points off the top two positions.

At Fairlop Oak, a close game saw United Dian in action at home against an improving El Valiente side, the latter starting the game with a three point lead. And a 2-1 win on the day saw them, increase that to six as the visitors scooped win number six this season.

PREMIER DIVISION

After being confirmed as league champions just a few days ago, Brook Athletic had the chance to finish the season unbeaten on Sunday but faced a stiff challenge in the form of Flyhouse Athletic, a side eager to put a dent in that record. And that was how it turned out as Flyhouse confirmed their own place in the top flight next season with a 2-0 victory, finishing as runners-up. Congratulations to both clubs on their respective achievements this season!

DIVISION ONE

After a difficult run of form in recent weeks, Oceana went into their game at home to Chingford Athletic with victory in mind to reignite their challenge for the title and they delivered exactly that on Sunday with a 5-1 home win at Fairlop Oak. Joe Belcher, Robert Coe, Daniel Kelly and Morgan Seaman were the men on target to give them a fighting chance of silverware in the weeks to come.

DIVISION TWO

There was a dramatic game in Division Two where Asianos led 2-0 late on against league leaders, Roneo Colts, only for Frankie Iheukor and Shermar Marshalleck to level it at 2-2 and seemingly take home a point. But an even later goal earned an incredible 3-2 win for Asianos who must now surely be contenders for promotion. Arshad Calloo, Masum Hussain and Mohammad Safi got the goals to confirm three points.

Fourth placed Royal Lions A are another side will be close come the end of the season and made it a great weekend for the club with a thumping 10-1 win on Sunday against FC Mexico B as those sides met in Barkingside. That saw Lions pick up a tenth win in sixteen, taking their points tally to thirty for the campaign.

Thames Ironworks Community have placed themselves on the cusp of the top half following a solid win on the road, defeating East London Harriers 2-0 at Thames Rugby Club to move sixth. A goal apiece from Tayo Felstead and Bradley Drisdale were the difference between the sides in the end to hand Thames a seventh league victory.

DIVISION THREE

In Division Three, with cup football the emphasis, just one league game was scheduled and that saw the two “I” sides meet with Imperial Row travelling to face Inside Success in Leyton. Halameen Agbaje netted two and Quam Deen one as Inside completed a 3-1 home win to move up a place in the table to sixth with their fifth win of the campaign.

DIVISION FOUR

At the top of Division Four, Singh Sabha Barking have placed themselves just one victory away from the league title as they picked up win number fourteen on Sunday with a 6-0 home success against Raphael Park Rovers in Newbury Park. Daniel Adesonla and Sebastian Osei-Obengo both scored twice with Karam Lalli and Jordan Hamilton goals taking them to the brink.

Second placed United Amateurs kept themselves in the promotion places for another week as they entertained Chingford Athletic Reserves and came from behind to win 4-2 at Hainault Rec. The Billy Biggs and Bradley Bennett double act were at it again, scoring a brace apiece to set their side on the way to victory, although they will have to hope for other results to go their way if they’re to get the runners-up spot.

Over in Dagenham, Ultimate Vision Reserves are another side who could still nip in for runners-up but will also need things to go their way but did their part to keep that on track on Sunday with a terrific 5-3 win against an in-form Lonsdale side. Charlie Owen scored twice and Oliver Dingli once for the visitors but those goals proved not quite enough.

DIVISION FIVE

The race for the title in Division Five looks as though it will head into the final games of the season as Colebrook Royal Vets put win number sixteen on the board with an 11-3 win away at Dagenham Rangers. Ben Sitki and Omar Mahmood scored a hat-trick each with Joe Cole and Steve Summers scoring twice and Nicholas Chrysanthou striking the other.

Second placed Belfry Reserves will have a big say on affairs with two games against the other title chasing side still to come and they remained in the promotion places themselves on Sunday with a 3-1 away win against Royal Lions B in the Hainault derby. That confirmed a twelfth win of the campaign for John Blasdale’s side.

The division’s other game saw an improving Ultimate Vision A side head into their last four games of the season with a home fixture against Eastern Avenue, the latter looking for a top half finish. A closely fought game saw Avenue finish 2-1 winners on the day, Daniel Nyabowa and Cieran Lennon-Hunte scoring their goals with Max Massow notching Vision’s consolation.

DIVISION SIX

Division Six is another where a side can, with games in hand, overhaul the present leadership as Colebrook Royals Reserves play catch up on fixtures. They will likely need to win five out of their remaining six games and started that sequence with a comfortable 10-1 win on Sunday, beating Ivory United. Phorrell Brooke scored six goals in a top performance, adding to efforts from Ben Whomersley, Leo Winer, Archie Locke and Kamran Latif while Matthew Driscoll scored United’s goal.

Over in Newbury Park, London Legacy completed their maiden league campaign with a home fixture against Epping Forest Falcons as both sides sought to improve their points tally. Goals from Chukwuemeka Atumonyogo and Mohamed Noor accounted for the Legacy efforts but Falcons scored two of their own as the sides settled on a point each in a 2-2 draw.
