CORINTHIAN CUP

It was quarter-finals day for four sides in the Corinthian Cup as last season’s finalists, AC Milano, secured a place in the last four with a 3-1 home win against FC Galaxy with Mohamed Kidia scoring two from the bench and Akiljo Balliu one.

Their opponents in the semi-finals will be Yeni Bogazici as their own last eight clash against Brook Athletic saw neither side able to breach the other’s defence with the game ending 0-0 at ninety minutes, before Yeni prevailed 5-4 in the shootout to book their place.

DIVISION ONE

Upshire Forest moved up into third place on Sunday after a strong 3-0 win against JK Silvertown, leapfrogging their opponents in the process, Louie Fehrenbach scoring two and Charlie Kerswell one in the victory.

DIVISION TWO

It was victory for Colebrook Royals Reserves in Division Two as they defeated cup final bound, CSM London, in a 4-1 scoreline at The Foundry. Joshua Te Whare scored a hat-trick and Makai Fray notched the other, Royals’ sixth league win this season.

DIVISION THREE CUP

Both semi finals were completed in the Division Three Cup on Sunday with Condor Reserves producing the big result with a 7-0 win against Prospect Protege. Darius Darie’s hat-trick supplemented strikes from Ion Grigor, Cristian Rotari, Ion Scurtu and Mihail Caminschi to send their side through.

On the other side of the draw, Stone Town’s first semi-final saw them taking on Manford Way in Hainault where it was the latter leaving with a place in the final confirmed, Dylan Fagan netting both goals in a 2-0 Manford win to book their place.

DIVISION FOUR

East End United moved to within ten points of the leaders with four games to go, taking all three points in a 5-0 home win against Cardinals Athletic with Ryan Mallett scoring two, Sonny Davie, Loui Grech and Jack Jackson the others.

Third placed Colebrook Royals A kept alive their own promotion hopes with a tenth win of the season on Sunday, defeating Eastern Avenue to keep just a point off the promotion places with three games to go.

DIVISION FIVE

Newbury Drive moved up into second place in the standings as they recorded a 7-0 home win over the league leaders, Alpha, with Alfie Mobey, Graham Bryan, Billy Happe and Paul Schouwenburg braces helping them do so.

Fourth placed Athletic Newham kept their hopes of a top two finish alive also with a big 4-1 win on the road away at Epping Town with Karl Brolly scoring two, the other goals arriving from Esley Liwala and Mahmoud Yagob.

In east London, Young Royals moved further clear of any relegation dangers with a 7-1 win at tenth placed Mansfield Rangers. Jamie Mills scored for Rangers but his efforts proved in vain as Royals left with the points.

DIVISION SIX

Gatcliffe sit top of the table in Division Six with four games to go as they netted the game’s only goal in their clash with Coppice Row with Alfie Smyth’s effort from the bench the only difference between the sides in a 1-0 scoreline.

Second placed Valence United B were up against a Legacy City side with plenty of games still in hand and it was a case of defences very much on top with the match finishing 0-0 in Hainault, both sides still very much with a say in the promotion battle.

At Hainault Rec, Warren United and Lonsdale renewed old acquaintances once again, Warren repeating the dose from a week previous as they rattled up win number nine in a 3-1 success, despite a Ylli Shahinaj strike from the visitors.

DIVISION SEVEN

The top two met in Division Seven as newly crowned champions, Ace Athletics, took on Collier Row Under 23s with the latter still needing points to confirm promotion. Ace won it 3-2 however with Riley Boyce, Bailey Pryce and Thomas Mason goals overcoming Chris Kipoy’s goal for Row.

Four sides can mathematically still catch second place with two winning on Sunday, Zone 4 Athletic’s 4-0 away victory over Rush Green Rangers keeping hopes alive with Marcos Haley’s hat-trick and a Teraun Davis goal.

Another side still keeping hopes in tact are United Amateurs Reserves who sit third following their 3-1 derby win against Hainault Athletic as Kieran Gambier, Honest Agbonifo and Henry Sleight all netted, overcoming a Ryan Stacey goal for the visitors.

Romford Bullsharks kept some winning momentum moving towards their upcoming cup final, winning a seven goal thriller 4-3 against Highams Park Rangers with two Zachary Bussell goals plus one each from James Edwards and Callum O’Sullivan.

FA SUNDAY CUP

It was a trip up to Lincolnshire for East London Ballers at the weekend as they took on Hartlepool AFC Supporters at Boston United for a place in the national final. Early mistakes enabled AFC to take a lead and, despite a second half improvement and missed chances, a second late on meant it was AFC heading to the final following a 2-0 win.
