FA SUNDAY CUP

Sunday afternoon saw the climax of the season’s FA Sunday Cup competition with Baiteze Squad heading to south London to take on Highgate Albion at Millwall’s New Den stadium. It’s fair to say that Baiteze started the game the better of the sides and were ahead after just three minutes, Cole threading the ball to Jeremiah who squared for Barnwell to sweep home for 1-0. They could have been out of sight within the first twenty minutes with a number of great chances but they couldn’t convert. Highgate produced some chances of their own, one in particular forcing Utuyo into a big save and also striking the side netting in the second half as they tried to pounce on the counter attack. But with four minutes to go, substitute Alex Teniola unleashed from distance, striking the crossbar but fellow sub, Chaka Barnett, was on hand to head home the rebound to complete a memorable 2-0 victory. Many congratulations to Billy and the rest of the players on such a tremendous achievement.

PREMIER DIVISION

Back in the league, the Premier Division action was rounded off for another season as Flyhouse Athletic took on Roose in the Forest Road derby with both sides looking to end their campaigns in positive fashion. It was Roose who ended the day the happier of the teams, confirming a strong third placed finish with a 4-3 success against the Senior Cup finalists.

DIVISION TWO

Newly crowned champions, St Augustines, completed their penultimate game of the season with a fifteenth success of the campaign as they defeated Korona Redbridge in a 5-2 scoreline. Callum Daniels’ form continued with a hat-trick, Jack Dalby also contributing a brace while Dawid Smolarek and Karol Szlachta grabbed the Korona consolation goals.

DIVISION FOUR

The Division Four final standings are now complete and Ultimate Vision Reserves assured themselves of a top four finish as they edged a close game against Chingford Athletic Reserves in Waltham Abbey. Vision were 3-2 victors on the day to move up two places, confirming a ninth league win of the season in the process.

DIVISION FIVE

The race for the title in Division Five will go to the wire as leaders, Colebrook Royals Vets, set the bar to sixty points following a 5-1 success against Royal Lions B in their final games of the campaign. Omar Mahmood scored twice with Nicholas Chrysanthou, Marc Dorrington and Joe Cole also finding the back of the net as they now await the outcome of Valence’s fixture run-in.

CHARITY CUP

In the final of the West Essex Charity Trophy on Sunday, Loxford Lions met holders Goresbrook for the right to lift the trophy having had to wait some time to do so. Loxford took an early lead at Oakside but Goresbrook levelled from the spot to make it 1-1. But Lions roared to victory with two second half goals as they won 3-1 to lift the trophy.
