CORINTHIAN CUP

The opening cup action of the season took place on Sunday with matches in the Corinthian Cup kicking things off. The biggest shock of the day saw Division Two side AC Milano knock out top flight opposition, beating El Valiente in a 2-0 result in East Ham. A goal apiece from substitutes Uzair Patel and Ronaldo Dariri were the difference to put their side through.

There was a further shock in the game at Fairlop where Division One’s Roose saw they run in the competition reach a conclusion with a home defeat against local rivals, Newbury Forest, who play in Division Two. In what sounded like a cracking nine goal thriller, Brady Jones’ hat-trick and strikes from Lloyd Ross and Harry Glenister proved the difference, overcoming Roose goals from Leon Isaac (2), Charlie Hawes and Shaye McKenzie-La-Rose in a 5-4 win.

Debden Sports Reserves took some respite from their league campaign so far and recorded a terrific win in the cup with an away success against Barking on Sunday, completing a 5-0 win to go through into the next round. Jacob Payne scored twice with Joseph Cloake, Jamie Rones and Antonio Vullo all netting to complete the job for their side.

It was also a better day for Repton Park who, despite their travails in the league thus far, were in good form in the cup on Sunday, defeating fellow Division One side St Augustines at Fords in a 3-1 scoreline. Ayomide Ademokun, Jesse Spearing and Atanas Krastev were the scorers, overcoming James Smith’s goal for the Saints.

The day’s all-Senior Division match up came from Loughton where league new boys London All Stars had to come from behind in their game against East Way Athletic to secure their place in the next round.
