CORINTHIAN CUP

The first Corinthian Cup action of the new season took place over the weekend where the higher-ranked sides went safely through, starting with CSM London who were 11-1 winners against Northbrooks. Steven Lambert scored six, Daniel St Louis two, Ashley King, Ibrahim Aboukar and Kaedan Azam with the others.

There were plenty of goals in the other tie where Barking & Dagenham Wanderers made their way through from an eight-goal thriller away at Endurance Athletics. Goals from each of Joshua Renwick-Smith, Segun Balogun, Berty Frith, Francesco Iheanyiogu and Keanan Bancroft proved enough.

TROPHYLAND CUP

There were some cupsets in the Trophyland Cup, beginning at Castle Green where Cardinals Athletic took out higher ranked opponents with a 5-1 win over Old Esthameians Under 23s. Olawale Kareem scored for E’s but a Daniel Acquaye hat-trick along with goals from Mohamed Suko and Ryan Birch saw the hosts win it.

Another cupset saw Division Five’s Asianos secure passage into the second round with a narrow win over Division Four’s East London Spartans. Zac Leitch struck for Spartans but that proved in vain as Asianos scored twice to win it 2-1.

Epping Town’s great start to the season continued as they added a cup win to their win record, beating Division Four’s East End United at Stonards Hill in a 5-3 scoreline. Joseph Bothwell was in good form, netting a hat-trick, Fraser McCarthy and Andrew Smith notching the others.

Another Division Five side pulling off an upset were Athletic Newham who took on a Stone Town side placed two divisions above them but two Karl Brolly goals set them on the way to a 3-1 win with Jamie Brandon also on the scoresheet.

An all-Division Five clash from Walthamstow saw Mansfield Rangers take their place in the next round, edging a tight game over United Amateurs by the odd goal in a 3-2 success.  Honest Agbonifo and Joseph Witherden scored for United but Jay Kanber, Jake Magson and Robbie Allen efforts turned the tide.

Over at Chigwell Lane, two sides locked on points in Division Three went to battle in the cup where Prospect Protégé came out on top from their trip to Debden Sports Reserves, winning 2-1 as goals from Emmanuel Alo and Archie Kieran goals overcame Edward Bines’ strike.

Joining them in round two will be Royal Lions who ensured safe passage with victory at Parsloes Park, defeating London Legacy in a 3-1 scoreline. Connor Chance scored off the bench for Legacy but that goal proved not quite enough on the day.

Over in east London, a tight game almost saw May & Baker EC Reserves pull off a big result but it was East London Ballers Under 23s who edged through, netting the odd goal in three in a 2-1 result to secure their place in the next round.

ENDEAVOUR CUP

The opening Endeavour Cup action of the season saw a couple of close games, beginning in Hainault where last season’s finalists, Gatcliffe, were edged out in a shootout by Legacy City after the match ended 2-2. City held their nerve to win the shootout 4-2, extending their great start to the season.

There was also a victory for Newbury Kings who prevailed from their tie with Division Seven’s Romford Bullsharks by a couple of goals, the higher ranked Kings winning the tie 2-0 at Harris Academy.

SENIOR DIVISION

With other sides in county cup action, East London Ballers took advantage to move top of the table, recording a 2-1 home win against local rivals Baiteze Squad to make it three wins from four so far, ahead of the opening national cup ties this weekend.

DIVISION ONE

JK Silvertown made it two wins from two in Division One as they edged their clash with AC Milano Reserves by the odd goal, winning 3-2 as Dean Coster, Gravlyn-Boss Kitondo and Lashian Johnson struck with the all important goals.

DIVISION TWO

Two unbeaten sides went head-to-head in Division Two as Singh Sabha Barking led early on through Dylan Boparai’s goal. But East London Ballers Reserves netted to level and pushed on to win the game convincingly, 4-1 victors to make it four from four.

DIVISION THREE

Byron Red Star’s sparkling start following promotion continued on Sunday with a third win on the spin after coming through a tough game with South Ilford Catholics by the odd goal in a 3-2 scoreline. Stefanos Ladoukakis, Sion Daley and Adrian John all scored with Rilwan Kuku and Andrew Warin netting in reply.

The other game from the division came in the Westlands derby match and saw a Romford Town Flyers side take on Turkmenkoy, five points between the sides at the start of the game. That was maintained by full-time, a goalless draw meaning both sides took home a point.

DIVISION FOUR

It was first versus second on Sunday in Division Four where May & Baker EC took on Valence United A in a local derby and left with win under their belts, 6-0 winners to top the table after Alex Paraskeva and Kasey Taylor both scored twice, Teddy Bowden and Robbie Farrell notching the others.

DIVISION FIVE

In Division Five, the day’s only league action saw a high-scoring draw between Alpha and Ping City Phoenixes as eight goals couldn’t separate the sides by full-time in a 4-4 draw. A point apiece therefore was the outcome, Alpha moving to fifth and Ping to ninth places respectively.

DIVISION SIX

Warren United are the new leaders in Division Six, notching up a third win in four this season on Sunday with a 14-1 away victory over Newroe United. Daniel Beresford, Sonny Clarke and Oliver Regan all bagged hat-tricks, Harry Turner and Teddy Good scored two, Mason Noble with the other while Daniel Munroe notched the hosts’ consolation.

Sitting a point and two places further back, Chingford Athletic also have three wins from four so far this term, producing a 4-1 away success against JK Silvertown Reserves in Hainault as Darryl Wilson scored a hat-trick, Vilius Dambrauskas with the other, while Alan Sanders scored for JK in reply.

Over at Barking Park, it was a re-run of the cup final from last season as Valence United B took on Emerson & Upminster but it was Emerson exacting some revenge, securing a first win of the season, 2-1 the scoreline as Alfie Webb and Ben Atkins both scored. Milan Pajak scored the Valence consolation.

The Division Six action was completed in Chigwell where Coppice Row and Lonsdale both started the day winless. It was the visitors who broke their duck, Lonsdale 7-0 winners as Emanuel Ntoi, Eldin Pateriku and Kristjan Pentz braces paved the way, along with a Roxhersi Arapi goal.

DIVISION SEVEN

Leaders Ace Athletics made it four wins on the spin in Barkingside where Bailey Pryce’s hat-trick proved pivotal in a 3-1 victory over United Amateurs Reserves, the latter seeing Thomas O’Connell grab a goal in consolation.

Two sides sit locked on seven points, beginning with Collier Row Under 23s who were held to a 3-3 draw at full-time by Barking Colts. Alfie George scored twice and Charlie Gander once while Stefan Radu’s hat-trick ensured Colts took a point.

Zone 4 Athletic resurgence continues and they sit third in the table after securing a big 5-2 win over Hainault Athletic. Marcos Haley’s double plus goals from Samuel Maguire-Hughes, George Murcott and Zac Doyle proved enough while Luke Sutcliff netted twice for Hainault.

It was a first win for fourth placed Higham Park Rangers who secured victory at the third attempt with a 2-0 home victory over Barkingside in Chadwell Heath. Simeone Hurley and Daniel Francis scored the goals to net the points.

COUNTY CUP

It was a near cleansweep of wins for the league in the Essex Sunday Premier Cup, beginning with a strong win for Division One’s Daglanta who defeated Brentwood Senior Division side JP8 in east London with a 3-1 scoreline.

Another Division One side safely through are Critics who were up against fellow league side St Augustines in Barkingside and moved to a comfortable 5-0 win on the day to take their spot in round two next month.

Unbeaten Harlow Sunday League side, Grove & Hove Albion, saw their county cup run ended at Colebrook Royals where the latter edged their way through with a 3-2 victory to continue their run in the cup.

Another victory over Harlow opposition was secured in Newbury Park where Brook Athletic eventually prevailed in their tie against Langley Colts, 3-1 the scoreline at full-time to hand the hosts a place in the next round.

Joining them will be the holders, Hatch Lane, who had it all to do with a tough trip to take on Yeni Bogazici at Chigwell School on Sunday. With the game locked at 2-2 at full-time, it took an extra-time goal to eventually separate the sides with Hatch through 3-2 winners.

In the other completed tie involving league sides, FC Galaxy’s run in the competition reached a conclusion at Castle Green as last season’s quarter-finalists, Harold Hill, had their number, Hill 6-0 winners to move on through.

There was league success in the London Junior Cup first round action where Benchviews took their place in the hat for the next round, travelling to OIR and returning with a win under their belts, 3-0 the final scoreline.

It wasn’t such a positive outcome in the final tie from east London where Division Four’s East Park Rovers saw their run reach an end with a narrow 4-3 defeat to Hackney & Leyton Sunday League side Adament.
