CORINTHIAN CUP

The weekend’s sole Corinthian Cup action produced a giant-killing as Senior Division side KLIK were knocked out in the Dagenham derby away at Premier Division FC Ballr. The latter were ahead early in the game and didn’t relinquish that position with Devante Davis scoring twice and one apiece from Daniel Brock, Remy Mathurin and Adebola Sotoyinbo completing a 6-1 scoreline.

TROPHYLAND CUP

There was almost a shock in the Trophyland Cup too where Bretons Manor were looking to overcome a division deficit with a trip to Division Two’s Frenford in Ilford. The game finished level at 3-3 after extra time with George Andrews-Court and Gouly Djkalou scoring for Frenford but William Semain’s brace and a Jay Batchelor single levelled it for Manor. Frenford held their nerve in the shootout to win it 7-6 and progress through.

SENIOR DIVISION

It’s as you were at the top with Hatch Lane ahead by just goal difference, aided by their most recent result which saw them take maximum points in a 7-0 win against East Stars. Ashley Wackers-Kyriacou was in fine form with a hat-trick with Tremayne Coley, Daniel Florence and Jermaine Francis goals finishing things off.

The side trailing by just a few goals right now are Baiteze Squad who turned in a solid performance against mid-table London Mavericks at Oakside Stadium on Sunday morning, recording a 2-0 home win. There appears to be little between the title chasing sides at the moment in what looks like a real tussle for the title this year.

Also recording an impressive victory were Flanders who put on a nine-goal show at the weekend with a big 9-1 win against Warren United in East Ham. James Peagram scored for Warren but Jeff Nguede’s hat-trick and further efforts from Nasser Ishanzaden, Sydney Ekiyo, Aaron Lemard, Shomari Barnwell, Andrew Corbet and Giovanni Palmer finished it off.

There was also a big result for the reigning champions, Repton Park, who finally opened their points account in the league as they were 4-2 winners at home against El Valiente in Loughton. Paul Barry and Sam Edwards both got on the scoresheet for the visitors but their efforts were in vain as Park took the points.

PREMIER DIVISION

Brook Athletic have opened up a three point gap at the top in the Premier Division, taking advantage of teams around them being in cup action to increase their advantage. It took a solid performance however as Chingford Athletic failed to give it up but a single Brandon Martin goal proved the difference in a 1-0 scoreline in Brook’s favour.

Kulture Klub have moved up to third in the standings as they came out winners by the odd goal in a closely fought contest against Barking Riverside. Liam Adams was instrumental for Klub with a hat-trick, Marley Sylvester netting the other to secure the points for his side in a 4-3 win.

Moving up to fifth place, Asianos remain unbeaten so far and will be pleased with their morning’s work as they hosted Panda in Walthamstow. A goal apiece from Troy Hewitt and Hamza Patel were the difference in the end as the hosts completed a 2-0 win, their second league win of the season.

The other game in the second tier came from Dagenham where Barking & Dagenham Wanderers and Central Colts were both looking to expand on decent starts to the season as they met at Robert Clack. But the sides had to settle for a share of the spoils with the teams battling to a 1-1 draw.

DIVISION ONE

It’s just goal difference keeping the teams apart in Division One with Abridge Village the side at the top for now aided by their most recent victory, a 6-0 home win against Korona Redbridge. Kurt Freeney scored a hat-trick with Tony Preston, Reece Clarke and Jake Clarke goals rounding off an impressive performance.

Oceana are just a few goals behind the leaders after a good start to the new campaign and they sit second with three wins from five so far, helped by their win on Sunday at home to Barking. Aaron King scored twice for the visitors but home braces from Jamie Hart and Oliver Turner plus a goal from Ronnie Rouse gave Oceana a 6-2 win.

Moving up to third, Roose took advantage of results around them to shift up a few places as they ended AC Milano’s unbeaten start in some style, winning 4-0 in Hainault. Leon Isaac scored twice with Jack O’Connor and Shaye McKenzie La Rose netting the other to pick up a second Roose win and stay unbeaten.

There was an important local derby over the weekend as Goresbrook made the short trip to Westlands to face old rivals Hornchurch Oakmont. Goresbrook made it two league wins for the season with a 4-1 victory as Charlie Morris scored twice and one each from Josh Keeble and Liam Coney were enough to render Ellis Marsh’s goal as just consolation for Oak.

As games go, there was a real thriller in Barkingside where Wanstead Albion were the visitors to face Valentine United with both sides looking to kick start their campaigns with some more points. An enthralling 3-3 draw ensued with Chris Spicer, Lloyd John and Jay Dale netting for the hosts and Aidan Bailey (2) and Lare Ogunleye netting in reply for Albion.

DIVISION TWO

The gap at the top of Division Two was closed at the weekend where FC Galaxy moved to within four points of the leaders, fighting off an Emerson Park comeback to win 4-2. Mihai Mareniuc’s double, plus efforts from Alexandru Demidov and Bogdan Roman were enough in the end to secure the points.

That saw Thames Ironworks Community’s lead at the top cut as they were held to a 2-2 draw away at West Essex, the former’s first dropped points of the season so far. The teams shared the points in a result which sees West Essex move fourth in the standings with two wins and a draw so far.

There are now four clubs on nine points behind the leaders with Blackwall Rovers joining that elite club with a thumping 8-1 win over the weekend as they took on Jaffna at the Flats. Parmilan Kandasamy netted for the visitors but Rovers goals from Ryan Radley (2), Jamie Mayo, Charlie Parry, Lawrence With, Billy Tiff, Callum Jeannevol and Michael Haig were more than enough for the win.

Another side on nine points are FC Mexico B and they maintained their positive form with an important 4-1 away win as they returned home from Walthamstow with three points against Ainslie. Jay Digance scored the Ainslie goal but his efforts were in vain as the Mexicans wrapped up win number three for the season.

DIVISION FOUR

There remains little between the leaders in Division Four also with Upshire Forest’s one point advantage seeing them top of the league. This was aided by their win on Sunday in the late game from Hainault where goals from Charlie Newman, Luke Robinson, Ross Vasquez-Hyde and Tom Lawn saw them to a 4-0 win at United Amateurs.

Leytonstone Athletic showed their credentials as they ended Cobra’s unbeaten start to the season, earning the points with a 3-2 home win against their promotion rivals.
