TROPHYLAND CUP

St Augustines have become the third side through to the quarter-finals of the Trophyland Cup after their victory on Sunday against Chingford Athletic in Barkingside. Despite a six place deficit in league placings, it was ninth-placed Saints who came through the tie 4-1 with Kyran Allen scoring twice and Matt Lustig once to cancel Michael Johnson’s goal for the visitors.

PREMIER DIVISION

Romford Elite kept themselves in contention at the top end of the table for another week as they scored a comfortable 8-2 victory at home to Repton Park. Park were unable to clip the wings of Chris Bird who was the star with four goals for Elite, with Tyrone Scarlett netting twice and goals by Ben Bickford and Aaron Gill completing the tally. Jayden Ambrose and Jesse Spearing were the Repton scorers with their consolation goals.

Another side winning by a six goal margin were Warren United who took on Flanders at Old Parkonians with the visitors looking to protect an unbeaten record so far. But James Peagram had other ideas as his hat-trick helped his Warren side to a 6-0 victory  with Thomas Metcalfe, Harry Agombalor and Daniel Bell completing the win.

DIVISION ONE

Valentines United were the biggest winners in Division One as their second league match of the season saw them win handsomely 10-2 away at Waltham Athletic. Mark Jones done a lot of the damage with four of the goals although Adam Lindsay came off the bench to score a hat-trick also with Jimmy McCann (2) and Berty Frith goals making it a day to remember for United.

Also winning convincingly were Leyton Celtic as they took on Park Tavern at Douglas Eyre in Walthamstow with the hosts still looking for a first league win of the season. Two goals from both Ben Lacey and Ophel Idris paved the way with Kieron James, James Topping and Charlie Saywood doing enough to confirm a 7-0 victory for Celtic.

Moving up to third in the league table were FC Mexico who made it three wins from their opening five league matches with a hard fought 3-1 victory at Korona Redbridge. Dawid Pietras scored the Korona goal but strikes from Tom Terry, Adam Roberts and Rhys Tyrrell proved decisive to confirming maximum points for the visitors.

In the division’s remaining match, Ultimate Vision move back top of the table but had to settle for just a point in their home clash with Barking and Dagenham Wanderers. Jack Mooney and Ryan Chapman both scored for Vision but Wanderers responses from O’Neill McDowall and Forsythe Olafioye levelled the match at 2-2 and a point apiece. Vision moved top by the virtue of goal difference with the Old Boys not in action this week.

DIVISION TWO

It was a big day in Division Two with some of the top sides clashing on a Super Sunday. Upshire saw their unbeaten record so far come to an end as they were beaten on the road at Wanstead United, their rivals from last season’s epic Division Three title challenge. United came through the match winning 3-2 to move top of the pile after their opening six matches.

In another of the big clashes, Barca travelled across the hedge to take on London Fire Brigade in a local derby match in Hainault. In an intriguing battle between youth and experience, Barca led early only to see an Adam Finney thunderbolt for Fire level things up. The awarding of three penalties late in the first half (two scored) eventually proved decisive with Billy Barr’s brace and strikes from Nebil Saleh and Jamie Webster accounting for the goal tally and helping their in-form side up to second in the standings.

Flyhouse Athletic keep pace with the sides at the top end of the table as they moved to a second league victory of the season, seeing off Dagenham United at Manor Road in a 3-0 scoreline. Todd Russell, Joshua Robinson and Zachary Booth all netted for the visitors to move to seven points for the season so far.

DIVISION THREE

There are new leaders in Division Three after FC United of Hornchurch took advantage of sides dropping points around them to go top of the table. The in-form outfit took on Alliance United in Rainham, overcoming two goals from Remi Monfray for the visitors, with goals of their own through Billy Pearce (2), Reece Smith, Jamie McLeavy, Shane Cassidy and Josh Harris to secure to a 7-2 win.

Moving up to second place in the table are Goresbrook who overcame a hard working Hornchurch Oakmont outfit to win 4-1. George Martin was once again on target as the Hornchurch goalscorer but two goals from Liam Coney and a goal apiece from Charlie Barrett and William Cox  secured the points for the home side.

Alpha are up to fourth place in the table as they picked up maximum points in a 2-0 victory at home to Dagenham United Reserves in Manor Park. Two goals from George Burton were the difference between the sides, netting both to secure all three points for Alpha.

Roneo Colts got back to winning ways on Sunday with an emphatic 8-1 victory as they took on Asianos Reserves in Dagenham. There were hat-trick performances from both Jamie Hart and Campion Leroy with two goals from Shay Kelly completing the resounding victory for Colts.

Morfdown Elect held the previous league leaders, Ridgeway Rovers, to a draw on Sunday in the division’s final game, helping Elect to move up a place to sixth in the league table. Duone Minors found the back of the net for Rovers but a brace from Elect’s Adam Davis levelled things up to take a share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw.

DIVISION FOUR

Central Colts moved back to the top of the Division Four table, taking advantage of results going their way around them, by winning 11-0 in stunning fashion at home to Newham Athletic. There were four goals from Tunde Olagunju, two from Jimmy Turner and singles from Charlie Parry, Ricky Rix, Curtis Taylor, Colin Wiles and Paul Rosen to complete the win.

Grey Area picked up the result of the day on Sunday, beating the previous leaders, Highams Park Royals, by just a single goal to end Royals’ unbeaten start to the season. Having already shown tremendous improvement since last season, Grey Area now have results to match this, with Sonni Barnard’s goal the only one of a well contested match as they ran out 1-0 victors.

Sustaining their third place in the table are Thames Ironworks Community who scooped a third win from six games so far on Sunday, beating fourth placed East Ham Inter in a 4-0 scoreline. Reece Lewis scored twice for the visitors with Theo Towli and Bunjamin Kamberi goals putting the icing on the cake for Thames.

Custom House Community closed the gap on the sides just above them as they were victorious on Sunday away at Epping Forest Falcons. Peter Andrew scored for Falcons but saw his effort rendered as consolation by two Custom goals from Evangelos Shianios and one from Bernard Appiah scooped a 3-1 victory.

And completing the weekend’s action, Oak Royals will be breathing a sigh of relief as the Newbury Park outfit felt that undeniable winning feeling for the first time this season on Sunday. Fellow winless side, Bata United, were the visitors with Abolade Siyanbola scoring their goal but Oak strikes for Bill Gregory, Mark Levy, Ryan Mitchell and Harry Goodman sent their side to a 4-1 win.
