CORINTHIAN CUP

The weekend’s Corinthian Cup action brought about it’s usual peppering of cup shocks with two Senior Division sides exiting the competition at lower league opposition. The first of those was East Stars who fell to third tier Valentine United in an 8-3 scoreline. Lloyd John scored four and Tyrone Scarlett three for United with Jay Dale’s goal finishing off a stunning performance for their side.

The other giant killing came from Dagenham in a second round tie where London Mavericks were the visitors to face Premier Division Barking Riverside. And it was the second tier side who came away comfortable winners and booked a quarter final place with Barking 5-1 victors to secure that berth in the last eight.

There was a also a cracker of a tie in Barkingside where Senior Division side Warren United were pushed all the way by Division One’s Gants Hill in a seven-goal thriller. Harry Agombar and James Peagram both scored twice for Warren which proved just enough in the end to run out 4-3 winners and move safely into the second round.

TROPHYLAND CUP

The penultimate ties in round one were completed on Sunday with Thames Ironworks Community extending their good form in all competitions with a 4-2 victory away at Lonsdale. Anton Gjergji scored both goals for the hosts but Thames braces form Tayo Felstead and Harry Jones saw their side into the hat for the second round.

Over in Barkingside, two of Division Four’s sides who have made indifferent starts to the campaign met in the cup with United Amateurs running out winners in their visit to Young Royals. The crucial United goals came via Jack Chawner, Luke Howell and Thomas Springer to go through in a 3-1 scoreline.

Division Four’s Theydon Green once again were in the headlines in the cup as they overcame a two division deficit against Division Two’s Emerson Park in a 3-2 scoreline to go through to the quarter finals. Noah Friend scored twice with Josh Steele grabbing the other to make safe passage.

Theydon were the biggest winners of the day in this competition as they saw off Division Three’s Alpha over at the Flats to go through. They were 4-0 winners as Jack Morgan and Chris Walling each scored twice to help their side to another victory this season, keeping up an excellent start.

Chingford Athletic A came out on the right side of a five goal thriller as they came through a potential banana skin tie against a side two divisions lower in the shape of Titans United. Tosin Osinaike scored twice for Titans but their efforts weren’t quite enough as Michael Colgan, Jack Newbury-Neale and Rhyce Tokeley goals made it 3-2 in Chingford’s favour.

And completing the Trophyland Cup action for the day, Total Football’s good start continued with a very good win away at a very highly rated Leytonstone Athletic side. Two goals from Max Cummins and one each from Carl Parsons and Nile Painter overcame a Jermaine Lake strike for the hosts to confirm a 4-1 Total win.

ENDEAVOUR CUP

In the second round of the Endeavour Cup, Ping City Phoenixes were big away winners as they secured a place in the quarter finals on the back of a 7-3 win at Fairlop Rovers. Jack Flood swept in with four goals for his side, James Bishop, Charlie Prevost and Barney Waterman-Cushway netting the others to see their side through.

Byron Red Star will also be in the hat for the quarter finals as they came through a hard fought clash against Ilford County in Wanstead on Sunday. Goals from Adrian John, Michael Dekson and substitute Richard Oduwole proved sufficient in the end to help their side win it 3-0 on the day.

Another Division Six side who will be in the last eight are Epping Royals who put in a sterling performance to edge past East Tilbury Town in a five goal thriller in Dagenham. With Charlie Rusbridge and Danny Crandle both on the scoresheet for Town, Epping goals from Matthew Winter, Calvin Bell and Fraser McCarthy done enough in the end to make it a 3-2 Royals win.

Completing the action in this competition, two of Division Five’s high-flying sides, Dagenham Rangers and Stow Rovers, met at Barking Park with the teams battling it out to a 1-1 draw after extra time. Taiwo Oshinyemi scored for Rovers and his side them held their nerve to win the shootout 4-3 to go through.

SENIOR DIVISION

There was just the one game in the Senior Division owing to the weather and that came from East Ham where East Way Athletic were the visitors to face El Valiente, both sides having made indifferent starts. And it was the visitors who will have ended the happier of the two teams as East Way ran out 5-1 victors to fifth in the standings.

PREMIER DIVISION

Kulture Klub have moved up to second in the Premier Division standings and just a few goals off top spot, taking advantage of sides around them being out of action to record a 3-1 away win at Ultimate Vision. Drew Thomas, Jake Del-Giudice and Liam Adams goals were the difference, rendering Ryan Chapman’s strike as just consolation for Vision.

Also moving up the table were Central Colts who are into the top half as they recorded a second league win of the season with a 3-0 win away at Panda who remain without a point so far in the second tier. That victory for Colts puts them in touch with the sides just above with a game on hand too.

DIVISION ONE

Game of the day in Division One must be the clash in Hainault where Goresbrook were at home against Barking at the Rec and the sides combined for an incredible eleven-goal thriller. Two Goresbrook goals from Alfie Wiseman and one apiece from Liam Coney, William Cox and Kino Heholt would ordinarily be enough. But Barking were in excellent scoring form themselves as Kastriot Vata’s double plus singles from Benjamin Britton, Ben King, Michael O’Brien and Aaron King took the points in a 6-5 win.

There were just the ten goals further along Forest Road where Korona Redbridge were the hosts as they took on the leaders, Oceana. Jesse Jones’ excellent form continued with a hat-trick as Oliver Turner, William Weightman and Robert Coe added further efforts in a 7-3 win for Oceana. Artur Jalocha, David Pietras and Konrad Stoklosa netted in reply for the hosts.

The third game in the division saw a far more defensively focused 1-1 draw where Wanstead Albion were hosts to Roose in their battle at the Flats. Aidan Bailey scored the Albion goal but Roose were able to also net to level things up and settle for a share of the spoils. That result keeps them fourth and unbeaten while Albion sit ninth after four games.

DIVISION TWO

In Division Two, FC Galaxy closed the gap at the top to just a single point with a game in hand as they took all three points home with them from their trip to Ilford to face Frenford. Goals from Mihai Dinu (2), Alexandru Demidov, Eduard Bica, Iulian Udriste and Luchian Grigore were more than enough to earn a 6-1 victory.

There was a huge game affecting matters at the other end of the table as FC Mexico A made the trip to Waltham Abbey to face Chigwell United on Sunday with both sides still in search of a league win. The Mexicans broke that particular duck as Emmanuel Rowe, Rhys Tyrell, Serghei Scupoi and Mujib Ayoola goals earned them a 4-2 win, Daniel Rule and Matthew Curtis netting the consolation United efforts.

Over in Highams Park, St Augustines will have been relieved to get a game on at home with Royal Albert making the trip up to the Jubilee Ground. And it will be Albert who will leave the happier of the sides as Sam Turpin, Mohamed Sheikhnor and Korede Silva goals gave them a 3-0 win on the day.

DIVISION THREE

The recent form of Eastbrook United has not gone unnoticed and they have now opened up a five point lead at the top of the table after picking up a crucial 4-1 win on Sunday at home to fellow promotion chasers, Bretons Manor. Perry Whaling scored the Manor goal but United efforts from Heavenly Bende, Keiva King, Jayde Abraham and Corey Tomlin proved enough.

Blackwall Rovers now sit second in the standings but only on goal difference ahead of their opponents from Sunday, FC Mexico B, as the sides shared the points in a 2-2 draw. Ryan Radley and a rare Dean Fitzgerald effort helped Rovers take a point from the game against an in-form Mexico outfit.

Ainslie will have been pleased with their morning’s work as they secured a fine win with a 5-1 victory against old adversaries, Jaffna, over in Barkingside. Deluxchan Thursiyanthan scored the hosts’ goal but Ainslie strikes from Jay Digance (2), Nial Mullins, Kailem Gayle and William Hunt took home the points to east London.

It was also a good morning for Monkhams who made it two wins from four so far this season in the league as they took maximum points home from their trip to Roneo Colts. A 3-1 win was secured for the Loughton side with Lorenzo Coppola, Sam Snell and Callum Thomas all finding the back of the net, Rob Kilminster netting the Colts consolation.

DIVISION FOUR

It’s as you were at the top of Division Four and it couldn’t be much tighter with Upshire Forest still leading the way by a single point, aided by their most recent victory which was a hard fought local derby win against Chingford Athletic Reserves. Oliver Campbell scored the all important and only goal of the game in a 1-0 Forest victory.

Just behind the leaders by a single point are Dagenham based Cobra who had a tough battle on their hands as they faced a solid Romford Athletic Dons side at home on Sunday. They did manage to edge the game as Bradley Johnson and Jamie Morris efforts completed a 2-1 victory to keep them in the hunt.

DIVISION FIVE

There were goals galore in Division Five where Royal Lions had to come from behind against Tekkers Vets to secure their win as the Hainault derby fixture ended in an 8-2 win in Lions’ favour. Leroy Addoo and Leon Muir efforts helped Tekkers to level at 2-2 at the break but Lions hat-tricks from Charlie Burns and Darren Smith-Wellington plus efforts from Brian Randriamanantena and Kasbon Tokenge earned the win.

In the day’s late game, Valence United stormed into a half-time lead against Colebrook Royals in front of a big crowd in Dagenham with Rowan Newland netting a hat-trick, Keenan Mitchell scoring twice and Jordan Cook once. But things didn’t all go their way as Royals fought back valiantly to 4-3 in the second half before United wrapped it up 6-3 late on.

DIVISION SIX

Athletico City will have been pleased with their efforts on Sunday as they came from two goals down at half time to complete a stunning comeback against Woodford Green United and record a 3-2 win, their first ever win. Harrison Nada and Chris Sibley both struck for Green but debutant Ben Perry came off the City bench to score twice with Heman Gopeenauth also scoring in an enthralling contest.

The same scoreline was witnessed over in Walthamstow where Mansfield Rangers and Epping Forest Falcons went to battle and shared five goals between them. Ashley Conroy proved the hero with a hat-trick for Falcons with Kempson Allen and Chris Ttofari strikes for Rangers accounting for their efforts in reply as Falcons edged it 3-2.

There was a little more routine about the final game in the league as Royal Lions Reserves made it three wins from six so far as they travelled to Beckton to take on Thames Ironworks Community Reserves. David Nott scored for Thames off the bench but Royal braces from David Onyekaba and Emmanuel Ejembi saw them take a 4-1 win.

COUNTY CUP

It was a good day for most of our sides in the London county cup competitions with both of our sides progressing in the London Sunday Challenge Trophy but it was close in both instances. Asianos progressed through in a 3-2 win against BG Club and they will now face another Corinthian side as FC Ballr came back from two goals down against North London Raiders A to level at 2-2 and then win the resultant shootout.

In the London Sunday Junior Cup, Hatch Lane are in the hat for the third round with a big 5-0 win away at UK-FC on their old Marshes stomping ground but it was not such a good day for AC Milano who saw their county cup quest end with a 5-3 defeat away at City East.
