TROPHYLAND CUP

There were a couple of cupsets on Sunday in the Trophyland Cup, firstly as East London Ballers Under 23s overcame Division Three’s Euro Stars in a 5-1 scoreline with Enoch Mpita-Mayamba, Mohammed Malik, Augustine Sabnjoku and Mohamed Abdi goals, Abbas Osman striking for Euro in reply.

Epping Town also beat higher ranked opposition, edging a close contest 2-1 with Division Four’s Colebrook Royals A by the odd goal, Joseph Bothwell’s effort helping Town through into the quarter-finals of the competition.

Also through into the hat for the last eight are East Park Rovers who sit two wins away from a potential cup final appearance after a narrow 1-0 home win against Royal Lions with Joshua Fagbohun scoring the game’s only goal.

It was a more routine outing for Prospect Protégé who confirmed their place in the quarters with a strong home win, beating Mansfield Rangers 5-1 at Fairlop courtesy of a Sipho Nyoni hat-trick plus goals from Thomas Grannell and Jack Ross.

ENDEAVOUR CUP

There were goals aplenty in the Endeavour Cup, beginning at Hall Lane where Emerson & Upminster put in a sterling performance against Collier Row Under 23s to win 8-2. Alfie Webb struck a hat-trick, Harry Pitt a brace, Oliver Morgan, Bradley Clarke and Carl Holroyd the others while Bobby Davis and Ernest Peka struck for Row.

Another side to hit eight on Sunday were Ace Athletics who made light work of their clash with Barkingside, 8-0 winners to head into the quarter-finals with Thomas Mason scoring a hat-trick, accompanied by goals from Charlie Land, Dean Ben-Yosef, Paul Bergamini, Panny Artemiou and Simon Cameron.

It was a seven-goal haul in Hornchurch for visitors JK Silvertown Reserves who moved through into the last eight with a big 7-0 win against Newroe United. Bobby Rusbridge and Steven Starkey’s hat-tricks paved the way with Joey Chapman adding the other.

There was just the six goals at Barking Park and those saw Valence United B move through to the next round following a 4-2 victory over United Amateurs Reserves with Jamie Wooster scoring two, Paul Stringer and Jordan Cook adding the others. Jake Gilligan and Ryan Mayes netted consolation efforts for Amateurs.

The other tie from the weekend saw Division Seven’s Barking Colts taking on higher-ranked opposition in the form of Newbury Kings. It was Kings who left the happier of the two sides, 4-0 winners and through into the quarter-finals.

DIVISION ONE

It was a close game in the Division One fixture between FC Galaxy and Critics where the odd goal in three, scored by Galaxy, saw their side leave 2-1 winners with Mihai Mareniuc and Giovani-Ionut Paladoiu scoring the goals.

DIVISION TWO

There was an important victory from East London Ballers Reserves who continued their strong form with a 3-1 away victory over Colebrook Royals Reserves. Oscar Simmons struck for Royals but two Ballers goals from Junior Milla off the bench, plus a Demetri Davis-Thorpe effort, were enough for the win.

The other contest from Division Two saw CSM London record another victory, this time a 3-1 away success against Endurance Athletics helped by a goal apiece from each of Kalum Blanks, Emre Ozuaciksoz and Steven Lambert.

DIVISION THREE

Byron Red Star lead the way on goal difference in Division Three, recording a high-scoring 5-3 win on Sunday away at Debden Sports Reserves with Gabriel Adeshina and Adrian John netting two each and Lloyd-Reghan Ugorji the other. Jack Mussett, Elliot Betts and George Scott struck with the Sports consolations.

Manford Way sit just goal difference apart from the leaders in their own respective promotion chase, edging a close game against Romford Town Flyers by the odd goal on Sunday to win 2-1, helped by goals from Billy Brown and Fred Brislen-Hall, Clinton Oduku responding for Flyers.

There was a seven-goal thriller at Fords as Old Esthameians Under 23s and Turkmenkoy London needed the odd goal to separate. Suhayb Aftab’s hat-trick for E’s wasn’t quite enough as the visitors responded with two Joshua Bryant goals and one each from Suat Erdogan and Axel Kitoko to win 4-3.

Another game with seven goals saw Stone Town climb up into third place in the standings with win number four of the season, walking away 6-1 winners from their home clash against ninth-placed Condor Reserves.

DIVISION FOUR

In the battle of the “East” sides on Sunday, it was visitors, East End United who took home all three points from their trip to face East London Spartans, 4-1 the final scoreline as the visitors moved up into third place in the table.

It ended all square in the other game from the division where Eastern Avenue recorded just a second point of the season, sharing the spoils with second placed Valence United A in Dagenham after a 2-2 by full-time.

DIVISION FIVE

Ping City Phoenixes found their scoring boots once again, rattling seven past London Legacy in an eventual 7-2 home win. Jack Flood scored a hat-trick, William Salter and Ezra Waterman adding two each to counter Legacy goals from Anderson Santos and Charlie Saywood.

There was a narrow victory for United Amateurs in their home clash with May & Baker EC Reserves at Hainault Rec, a single goal from Thomas Chawner the difference between the two sides in a 1-0 win for the hosts.

The other game saw Alpha entertain a Young Royals side at Wanstead Flats where it was the hosts leaving the happier at full-time, goals from Nathan James and Kai Brown leading them to a 2-0 success in the end.

DIVISION SIX

There were wins for two of the promotion chasing sides in Division Six, beginning in Hainault where Legacy City maintained a perfect start with a seventh win of the campaign, 6-2 winners against Gatcliffe.

Chingford Athletic sit three points off the leaders from the same number of games after win number six was secured on Sunday, beating Coppice Row 4-1 through goals from George Whalley, Manuel Batista, Darryl Wilson and Serhan Culaj.

DIVISION SEVEN

Two was the theme of the games in Division Seven, starting with a 2-0 away victory over Highams Park Rangers in their derby win against Rush Green Rangers. Frankie Westland and Daniel Francis were both on the scoresheet in the win for Highams.

It ended all square in the other fixture from Rainham where Romford Bullsharks ended level at 2-2 with Hainault Athletic. The hosts saw goals from Jack and James Edwards while Terry Downing and Wasiu Lawal efforts accounted for the Hainault responses.

COUNTY CUP

There were some strong performances from league clubs in the London Sunday Challenge Cup, beginning in north London where the holders, Highgate Albion, saw their run ended against Baiteze Squad after a 2-2 draw, Baiteze winning their second shootout of the season, 5-4.

It was also a strong winning performance from Yeni Bogazici in their home clash against Brockley Athletic, the south London side leaving empty handed after a 7-3 scoreline at Chigwell School saw Yeni into the third round.

East London Ballers were pushed all the way at Parsloes Park before eventually prevailing against their opponents, Carpet, two late goals enough to earn them the 4-2 win and a place in the hat for the next round of the competition.

Another high scoring game saw Brook Athletic secure their own place in the next round as they recorded a strong 6-3 home success against south London opposition, Clapham Rovers the side beaten on the day.

The tie between Hackney League side Baddoo and AC Milano went all the way after the sides ended locked at 1-1 in their tie at the Marshes, Milano eventually holding their nerve to progress after a 5-4 win in the shootout.

The only defeat of the day came on Sunday afternoon as Surrey based Cheam Athletic produced a strong performance at Hatch Lane to end the run of last season’s beaten finalists, Cheam progressing in a 3-0 scoreline.

In the London Sunday Trophy, AC Milano Reserves followed the lead set by the first team by moving into the third round, returning home from south London with a 5-0 win under their belts against AFC Bexley.

The other tie from the competition saw St Augustines end their participation in the Trophy for the season after they went down 6-0 in north London against Hampstead Wanderers.

CHARITY CUP

There were two cupsets in the West Essex Cup, firstly as Barking & Dagenham Wanderers came from behind to net the latest of winners with the last kick of the game, defeating Harold Wood Athletic in a 3-2 scoreline.

Another close game pitted Division One’s JK Silvertown up against top flight Brentwood League opposition, JP8, in their tie in East Ham. It took a single goal to separate the sides, JK the beneficiaries of that moment to win the tie 1-0 and head into the quarters.
