DIVISION FOUR CUP

Central Colts were the biggest winners of the opening day of the Division Four Cup as they secured a comprehensive 8-0 victory over Grey Area. Tunde Olagunju continued his fine goal scoring form with four goals adding to strikes from Kelvin Malcolm, Jimmy Turner, Daniel Watson and Shannon Nyabunze.

Hornchurch Oakmont staged a great comeback in their opening group game with Goresbrook, coming back from two first half goals down to win 3-2. Charlie Barrett and Liam Coney goals had given Goresbrook the lead but second half goals from Ross Woolward, Nathan Adams and George Terry proved the difference on the day.

Another side opening their Division Four Cup campaign were Heathside who saw off Oak Royals in a 4-2 victory. A brace from Craig Ellis and goals from Glen Owen and Sam Owen accounted for Heath’s tally and cancelled out consolation goals from Ross Travers and Bill Gregory.

DIVISION ONE

Just one game survived the elements in Division One where St Augustines moved back in touch with the sides in the middle of the table with a 5-3 home win over Korona Redbridge in Barkingside. Two goals apiece for Kyran Allen and Nathan Hitchman plus a Ciaran Fitzgerald strike saw off Korona efforts from Artur Hajduk, Zoltan Rozsa and Dawid Smolarek.

DIVISION TWO

The leadership of Division Two has changed once again with London Fire Brigade taking over as leaders following a 3-1 win on Sunday at Lonsdale. Gary Lynch was on target for the hosts but a double from Ian Munro plus a Paul White strike were enough to take the Brigade top.

FC Mexico secured an important victory of their own to maintain their hopes of a promotion push, beating fourth placed Westferry Elite in a 6-2 win. The six different scorers for the hosts included Alex O’Halloran, Sam Prince, Rhys Tyrrell, Adam Roberts, Ian Tucker and Jack O’Neill.

DIVISION THREE

FC United of Hornchurch pulled off the result of the day in Division Three as they beat third placed Ridgeway Rovers 5-1 to increase the gap on the relegation placed sides below them. Shane Cassidy scored twice with Shaun Farrow and Harry James also netting for the Rainham-based outfit.

Upshire Reserves opened the gap at the top of Division Three to four points over Wanstead United although from two games more with a 4-2 at home to Partizan CMC on Sunday.

In the division’s remaining match, Asianos Reserves took on AC Milano Reserves at Lammas School with the hosts running out winners by the odd goal as they secured a narrow 3-2 victory to move sixth in the table.

CHARITY CUP

In the quarter finals of the West Essex Sunday Charity Trophy, an all-Corinthian tie saw Docklands Albion travel to Romford Galaxy and came away 7-0 winners to book a semi final place against Flyhouse Athletic.
